Binding of Isaac Repentance+ Quick Match pairs you with randomly selected online players, so you don’t need to organise a group before starting a run. The option is confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of The Binding of Isaac: Repentance+, launching on 19 November 2026.

You can also create or join online matches with friends or strangers, and Nicalis is adding filters for those sessions. Online play supports up to four people, including daily runs and challenges. If you’re playing in the same room, local co-op remains a separate option.

Binding of Isaac Repentance+ Quick Match explained

Quick Match is for joining other players without choosing a particular friend first. The publisher’s description also mentions starting or joining matches with strangers and playing online with friends. Those options give you a choice between a random group and a more deliberately arranged session.

The Binding of Isaac Repentance+ Quick Match option doesn’t guarantee a full four-player group immediately. Four is the online player limit, not a published promise about matchmaking speed, wait times or lobby size.

Quick Match, hosted matches and local co-op compared

Local co-op1 to 4 on one Switch 2Playing together on the same console

Local co-op doesn’t require Nintendo Switch Online merely to use one console, though each person needs a compatible controller. For remote play, everyone taking part needs access to online play. That’s a more useful distinction than treating all four-player modes as if they worked the same way.

Can you use Quick Match for daily runs and challenges?

Nicalis confirms online play across all game modes, specifically naming daily runs, Greed Mode and challenges. That means the new online features aren’t restricted to ordinary runs through the Basement. The game also adds online leaderboards.

The Binding of Isaac Repentance+ Quick Match feature is part of that online overhaul. The publisher hasn’t detailed how a particular daily run is scored with multiple players, so don’t assume a shared leaderboard result works exactly like a solo attempt.

Which matchmaking filters are available?

The Switch 2 description promises extensive preference filters when hosting or looking for an online match. What it doesn’t give is a list of those filters. There is no confirmed Switch 2 menu path for choosing a server region, character restriction or lobby setting.

If you want friends rather than random teammates, use the confirmed create-or-join option instead of expecting Binding of Isaac Repentance+ Quick Match to select specific people. Exact on-screen controls can be checked when the Switch 2 edition launches.

Do you need Nintendo Switch Online?

Yes. Online matches require an internet connection, a Nintendo Account and a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. This applies to Binding of Isaac Repentance+ Quick Match as well as other online sessions. By contrast, playing locally with people beside you does not require a paid online membership.

Nintendo lists the game as supporting one to four people on a single system and one to four online. It does not establish crossplay with the PC version or other consoles. If you’re planning to play with someone on another platform, don’t assume the Switch 2 edition can join their lobby.

When can you play Quick Match?

Binding of Isaac Repentance+ Quick Match arrives with the Switch 2 release on 19 November 2026. Nicalis also lists an emote wheel and voice chat for online communication, alongside its filters and new leaderboards. The full button layout and lobby options will be easier to describe once the release is playable.
