Adopt Me Pet Age Stages: Needs to Full Grown for Every Rarity

Official Adopt Me pet aging needs chart by rarity

Adopt Me pet age stages start with Newborn, then Junior, Pre-Teen, Teen and Post-Teen before Full Grown. Under the official revised requirements, Common pets take 25 Needs to reach Full Grown from Newborn, while Legendary pets need 183. That’s why two pets of different rarities can take dramatically different amounts of care.

Knowing exactly where your pet sits on that progression helps when you’re making a Neon or planning how to use Age-Up Potions. The chart below breaks down each stage separately, so you can count only the work you have left.

Adopt Me pet age stages: complete Needs chart

Uplift Games published these Adopt Me pet age stages in the September 2025 Pet Pen update. The numbers show Needs to complete each stage, not running totals.

Age Common Uncommon Rare Ultra Rare Legendary
Newborn 2 3 5 7 10
Junior 3 5 7 10 17
Pre-Teen 4 7 9 17 29
Teen 6 9 13 27 48
Post-Teen 10 12 20 46 79
Total 25 36 54 107 183

A Legendary pet takes 10 Needs at Newborn, 17 at Junior, 29 at Pre-Teen, 48 at Teen and 79 at Post-Teen, making 183 in total. The complete totals are 25 Common, 36 Uncommon, 54 Rare, 107 Ultra Rare and 183 Legendary.

How to calculate the Needs you have left

Find your pet’s current stage, then add that stage and those below it. A Legendary just entering Teen needs 48 plus 79, or 127 Needs. A Rare beginning Post-Teen needs 20. If it has already completed Needs within its current stage, subtract those before counting the rest.

This is the reason the Adopt Me pet age stages table shows each step. A pet halfway through Teen is not starting from zero, even if another pet of the same rarity has only just reached Teen.

How many Needs for four Full Grown pets?

Creating a Neon requires four Full Grown copies of the same pet. If each begins as Newborn, that totals 100 Common, 144 Uncommon, 216 Rare, 428 Ultra Rare or 732 Legendary Needs. You still need to combine the four pets after raising them.

The Adopt Me pet age stages totals help estimate what remains for a Neon project. If you already own two Full Grown pets, only count the progress needed for the other two; you don’t need to age all four again.

Age-Up Potions and Full Grown requirements

The developer’s growth chart lists one Age-Up Potion to raise a Newborn Common to Full Grown, two for Uncommon, two for Rare, four for Ultra Rare and seven for Legendary. Those whole-potion amounts apply from Newborn. Partly grown pets may need fewer.

Potions advance XP without changing a pet’s rarity. Check the Adopt Me pet age stages table before using one on a pet that is already near Full Grown. You may prefer to save the potion for a pet with much more ageing left.

Do Pet Pens change ageing requirements?

No. Pet Pens provide passive progress, not reduced Needs. They give 800 XP per hour online or 200 XP per hour offline, equivalent to eight or two Needs. Up to four pets can use the included slots, with an optional fifth available for 295 Robux.

A Pen can complete one growth stage before you need to check on your pet and resume progression. Our Pet Pens guide covers that limitation. Normal Adopt Me pet age stages still apply when a pet is in the Pen.

Neon and Friendship progress

Neon pets have their own stage names. Friendship progression is separate from normal ageing and cannot be earned in a Pet Pen. If your pet is already Full Grown, its Friendship progress won’t appear as another Newborn-to-Full-Grown cycle.

For an ordinary pet, the Adopt Me pet age stages figures are the useful starting point: check rarity, find the current stage and count the Needs still outstanding. That gives you a concrete target for active care, potions or passive growth.
