Adopt Me egg hatching works by completing the Needs shown for an equipped egg. You can also place eggs in Pet Pens to earn passive XP while you do other activities. Both methods count towards progress, but neither changes which pets the egg can hatch.
If you’re opening several eggs, you can care for one directly while others progress at home. This is especially useful when the current Nursery egg has several pets you want to collect. Here are the supported methods and their limits.
How to speed up Adopt Me egg hatching
Equip your egg from the Pets section of your Backpack and complete the Needs displayed above it. Feeding, drinking, rest and activities can make progress when the egg asks for them. Work through available tasks promptly instead of waiting for one particular Need while others are ready.
Faster Adopt Me egg hatching depends on completing more Needs, not buying a different potion or using a glitch. A Legendary-labelled egg isn’t guaranteed to hatch a Legendary animal; the pet comes from its published rarity pool.

Can Adopt Me eggs hatch in Pet Pens?
Yes. Uplift Games fixed the New Parent task specifically for eggs hatched in Pet Pens in November 2025. The February 2026 update also confirmed that egg XP generated in a Pet Pen counts towards the ‘They Grow Up So Fast’ task.
For Adopt Me egg hatching, Pet Pens let you make progress when you’re playing an event or caring for another pet. Every house has a Pen with four included slots, and a fifth slot can be purchased for 295 Robux.
| Method | Progress | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Active care | Complete Needs as they appear | You can focus on an egg |
| Pet Pen, online | 800 XP per hour | You’re playing elsewhere |
| Pet Pen, offline | 200 XP per hour | You’re away from Roblox |
Those rates are the equivalent of eight completed Needs each online hour and two offline. Direct care may be quicker when several tasks are available, while a Pen can keep multiple eggs progressing without your attention.
Do all eggs need the same number of tasks?
No. The regular Fairytale Egg and the retired Endangered Egg are examples of Nursery eggs that use five Needs, but Adopt Me also has special eggs with different origins. Check the progress displayed for the egg you actually own before planning how long it will take.
The Adopt Me egg hatching process also doesn’t let you swap one pet pool for another. A current Fairytale Egg won’t hatch an Endangered Egg’s Blue Whale, regardless of how quickly you finish its tasks.

Can Age-Up Potions open eggs instantly?
No. Age-Up Potions are for growing pets after hatching. A regular potion adds 3,000 XP to an eligible pet and cannot be used directly on an egg. Save it for raising the animal after the hatch, particularly if you’re collecting matching pets for a Neon.
For Adopt Me egg hatching, complete the egg’s Needs or place it in a Pen. Potions aren’t an alternative to those two progress methods.
Why is an egg not making progress?
Check that the egg is equipped or properly placed in the Pen. When caring for an egg, complete its Needs rather than your baby’s separate tasks. If the Pen has been running for some time, return to inspect the egg instead of assuming it is still progressing.
Uplift Games’ Needs changes also allow outstanding Needs to transfer from an egg to the pet that hatches. Seeing a Need immediately after the hatch doesn’t mean it failed. It belongs to the new pet.
How to hatch several eggs while playing
Keep one egg equipped for active Needs, leave other eggs in available Pen slots and check the Pen when you return home. This makes Adopt Me egg hatching less dependent on doing every task yourself, especially during seasonal minigames.
