Majora’s Mask Nintendo Switch Online: Which Switch Subscription Includes It?

Majora’s Mask Nintendo Switch Online is included with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The Nintendo 64 version is available in Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics on both original Switch and Switch 2. You don’t need a Switch 2 just to play this Zelda classic.

A basic Switch Online membership doesn’t include the Nintendo 64 library. You’ll need Expansion Pack and the Nintendo 64 Classics app for your console. The game is the original Nintendo 64 release, not Majora’s Mask 3D on Nintendo 3DS.

How to play Majora’s Mask Nintendo Switch Online

Use the Nintendo Account covered by an Expansion Pack membership, then find and download Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics through Nintendo eShop or the Nintendo Switch Online Classics area. Choose The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask from the app’s game list.

  1. Sign in with the Nintendo Account that has Expansion Pack access.
  2. Install and launch Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics.
  3. Find The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask in the Nintendo 64 game library.
  4. Select the game to start the original adventure on your system.

Majora’s Mask is part of the subscription library, so there’s no separate purchase inside the app. Keep the membership active to continue playing the Classics collection.

Majora’s Mask Nintendo Switch Online UK price

In the UK, Nintendo lists Expansion Pack at £34.99 for 12 months individually, or £59.99 for 12 months for a family group of up to eight accounts. These are subscription prices, not a permanent Majora’s Mask purchase.

A standard individual Nintendo Switch Online membership is £17.99 for 12 months, but it doesn’t unlock Nintendo 64 Classics. Confirm you have the Expansion Pack tier before downloading the app.

Can you play Majora’s Mask on the original Switch?

Yes. Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics supports both original Switch and Switch 2. That differs from Nintendo GameCube – Nintendo Classics, which works only on Switch 2. You can play Majora’s Mask on your existing Switch if your membership covers it.

An original Nintendo 64 cartridge won’t work in either Switch system. You play the emulated game through the Classics app, using supported controllers. Nintendo’s wireless Nintendo 64-style controller is optional.

Does Majora’s Mask Nintendo Switch Online have save states?

Yes. Nintendo 64 Classics supports suspend points. With a standard controller, press the – Button while playing to open the Suspend Menu, then choose the option to save your progress. This lets you stop during a session and return to it later.

To continue, open the Suspend Menu again and choose Load Suspend Point. If you’re using Nintendo’s optional Nintendo 64 controller, press ZR instead of the – Button to open that menu.

Suspend points are separate from the original game’s saving system and its three-day time loop. They’re useful for stopping mid-session without waiting for a particular in-game moment.

Is this the Nintendo 64 or the 3DS version?

Nintendo 64 – Nintendo Classics includes the original Nintendo 64 Majora’s Mask. The later Nintendo 3DS remake, Majora’s Mask 3D, is a different game release with its own changes; it isn’t what you’re downloading here.

Ocarina of Time also appears in the Nintendo 64 library. If you want to compare a classic release with a newer remake, see our Ocarina of Time comparison.

Does the subscription mean you own Majora’s Mask?

No. Expansion Pack gives you access to a game library while your membership is valid. It doesn’t grant a permanent downloadable Majora’s Mask licence, and the app won’t substitute for buying a game outright.

The Classics release is based on the Nintendo 64 game, not the 3DS remake. Don’t expect to import a Nintendo 3DS Majora’s Mask 3D save into it; Nintendo doesn’t provide that transfer as part of the Classics service.

Majora’s Mask versus Wind Waker on Switch 2

Both Zelda games need Expansion Pack, but they use different apps. Majora’s Mask is in Nintendo 64 Classics on Switch and Switch 2; The Wind Waker is in the Switch 2-only GameCube Classics app.

For Majora’s Mask Nintendo Switch Online, download the Nintendo 64 app, check your Expansion Pack membership and use suspend points when you need to leave the game. There’s no separate Majora’s Mask purchase required within that collection.
