Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 BlackCell unlocks the XERO Operator, 1,100 COD Points, 20 Battle Pass tier skips, a signature M4 blueprint and access to special seasonal challenges. Vault Edition owners are entitled to Season 1 BlackCell without a separate purchase.
The easiest way to compare BlackCell with the normal Battle Pass is to separate instant rewards from items that require playing. Some XERO skin and blueprint variants require BlackCell challenges, while the additional skins and weapon blueprints come through Battle Pass progression.

Activision also lists seven other BlackCell Operator skins and seven exclusive weapon blueprints on the 100-tier track. These aren’t the same as the instantly granted items. If you want a particular skin or blueprint, check its reward position when the season begins.
How to get XERO’s Cowled and Adder variants
The XERO Operator is included immediately with Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 BlackCell. His Cowled and Adder variants instead come from BlackCell challenges. Find Cowled and Adder under the BlackCell challenges when Season 1 begins; those skins aren’t included in the instant grant.
The same distinction applies to the M4. Perimeter Lance is the initial Signature Blueprint, while Occultus and Exitium are challenge variants. Buying BlackCell opens access to that progression but doesn’t automatically mark the variants completed.
Additional BlackCell operator skins and weapon blueprints
The seven Operator skins cover Blix (two skins), Oh-Ji, Velikan, Min-Hee, Luca and Dallas. The seven weapon blueprints cover the Kastov 762, Axion, KG-7 Vulcan, ISO Nightshade, CSG-35, Cronen Osprey and Mosin-Nagant.
These rewards sit within the Battle Pass experience. The live Battle Pass screen will show which tier unlocks each of these extra cosmetics. The CSG-35 and Cronen Osprey base guns themselves are available free at Tiers 36 and 16 respectively, regardless of BlackCell ownership.
Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 BlackCell and the Vault Edition
Vault Edition owners get Season 1 BlackCell access. Activision also permits Digital Standard owners to upgrade to Vault Edition later, provided the upgrade is purchased on the same platform as the original game.
If you already own Vault Edition, check the included entitlement before paying for BlackCell independently. You will still need to progress through the pass and complete challenges for rewards not granted instantly. The edition entitlement and individual item unlocks are separate.
Upgrading from the normal Battle Pass
Players who purchased the 1,100 COD Point premium Battle Pass before upgrading to Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 BlackCell receive 1,100 COD Points back. That isn’t a cash refund for BlackCell itself; Activision describes reimbursement of the original premium pass purchase.

How BlackCell changes DMZ
Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 BlackCell includes a DMZ Survival Pack and entitlement to a special vendor in the Forward Operating Base. At that vendor, eligible owners may spend DMZ Cash to purchase additional gear.
BlackCell gives you access to the vendor, where gear costs DMZ Cash. Check the vendor’s stock and prices at the FOB after the new season goes live. After the November 6 launch, the FOB interface will show which gear can be bought with the required account entitlement.
When does Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 BlackCell launch?
Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 BlackCell arrives with Season 1 at 5 AM GMT on Friday, November 6, 2026. It is not a pre-season Halloween reward and its XERO challenges belong to the new season’s progression.
