SONIC PICO PARK multiplayer supports two to eight players in local or online co-op, including cross-platform play. The crossover launches on 12 November 2026 for Switch and Switch 2, bringing Sonic’s rings, springs and loops into the puzzle-platform stages of PICO PARK.
Developer TECOPARK also lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows and Steam. This is a cooperative puzzle game: getting everyone to the goal matters more than racing ahead, and the team has to work out how to use its characters together.
SONIC PICO PARK multiplayer: Release Date and Platforms

Nintendo lists 12 November for both Switch systems. The developer also lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows and Steam alongside the Nintendo platforms. The crossover is a collaboration between TECOPARK’s PICO PARK and SEGA’s Sonic series. Make sure a store listing says SONIC PICO PARK rather than a previous PICO PARK title.
Two to Eight Players
You need at least two players, and a group can grow to eight. Each stage is built around co-operation, whether that means moving in sync or helping another character across an obstacle. It isn’t designed as a traditional solo Sonic platformer.
Can You Play SONIC PICO PARK Alone?
The advertised minimum is two players. If you are buying it to play on your own, that matters: the puzzles are built to be solved with someone else. Arrange at least one friend locally or online, then add more people if you want a larger party. The maximum is eight, not the number you must have to start a session.
Local and Online Co-op
You can play in the same room or join friends online. Nintendo confirms both modes, but the practical setup depends on how you’re playing. The PlayStation Store lists up to four local players on PS5 and eight online, so local limits can vary by platform. Check your Nintendo eShop’s controller requirements before arranging a large group.
Crossplay Between Platforms
Nintendo confirms cross-platform play, so the game isn’t confined to one console family. TECOPARK lists Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, Xbox One, Windows and Steam. The official launch details don’t include a universal step-by-step invitation method for every storefront.
SONIC PICO PARK multiplayer: Sonic Characters and Puzzle Stages

Promotional material brings Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy into PICO PARK alongside its familiar little cats. The developer describes a cooperative action-puzzle game with all-new stages. Rings, springs and loops provide Sonic flavour, but success depends on coordinated movements rather than the fastest player sprinting away.
Is Eight-Player Online Confirmed?
Yes. SONIC PICO PARK multiplayer accommodates up to eight people online, as well as local co-op. You can plan a large group without buying a special eight-player expansion. The player count is one of the core features, although online membership rules differ between console platforms.
SONIC PICO PARK multiplayer: Switch vs Switch 2
SONIC PICO PARK launches on both Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 on 12 November. Pick the store version for your system. Nintendo has announced both platforms without presenting this as a paid upgrade package or separate set of co-op stages.
Who Should Play It?
SONIC PICO PARK multiplayer is suited to groups who enjoy cooperating, laughing at mistakes and solving obstacles together. For another cooperative game with a smaller team size, our Witchbrook multiplayer guide covers its four-player structure. PICO PARK’s main attraction is fitting up to eight friends into the same challenge.
