Frog Sqwad crossplay launched on October 28, 2026. Friends can now play together across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. The update also removes the old restriction between Steam and Xbox players.
You can make a private group of up to eight players. Here’s how to use the lobby code, which platforms work together, and what to check if someone can’t join. Crossplay is confirmed; cross-platform save transfers have not been announced.
Frog Sqwad crossplay: which platforms are supported?
Panic Stations confirmed Frog Sqwad crossplay in the 2.0 update released alongside the PS5 and Switch 2 versions. All four platforms support online co-op, with mixed-platform groups of up to eight players.

The game supports online co-op, not split-screen on one console. Nintendo’s official listing specifies one player per Switch 2 system and two to eight players online.
How to play Frog Sqwad crossplay with friends
To play Frog Sqwad crossplay with friends, use the existing private-lobby system. Frog Sqwad has Host Game and Join Game options, and players can invite friends with a lobby code.
- Have every player install the Frog Sqwad 2.0 update on their platform.
- One player chooses Host Game and opens a session.
- The host shares the session’s lobby code with their friends.
- Joining players choose Join Game and enter the current code.
- When everyone has joined the lobby, the host starts the run.
The host and join options come from the game’s existing lobby system. Panic Stations has not published separate PS5 and Switch 2 controller-button instructions for the new release.
Does Frog Sqwad crossplay work between Steam and Xbox?
Yes. Before version 2.0, Steam players could not use lobby codes to join Xbox or Microsoft Store players. Panic Stations confirmed that restriction in June 2026. Xbox-console players and PC players using the Xbox app could already play together.
The October 28 Frog Sqwad crossplay update removes the Steam/Xbox barrier. Older forum answers saying those versions cannot play together refer to the game before 2.0.
Why is my Frog Sqwad crossplay lobby code not working?
If a friend cannot join your lobby, first check that everyone has the October 28 update installed. The developer has not published a list of new crossplay error codes or a specific version-mismatch message.
- Update the game: close it and make sure Steam, the Xbox app or the console has finished downloading the latest version.
- Check the code: get the code from the host’s current lobby and enter it again.
- Check the player count: a hosted co-op session supports up to eight people, including the host.
- Try a fresh lobby: have the host create another session and share its new code.
These are basic checks, not fixes for a confirmed 2.0 bug. An earlier July update addressed incorrect Lobby full warnings, but that does not establish a new October issue.
Does Frog Sqwad have cross-save or cross-progression?
Cross-save is not confirmed. Frog Sqwad crossplay lets people on different platforms join the same game. Panic Stations has not announced transferring saves or progression between Xbox, Steam, PS5 and Switch 2.
In July, Panic Stations explained that only the host saved a run; joining players did not retain run progress. The developer also said random matchmaking, Daily Challenges and Custom Seeds did not use those saves. The October 28 notes do not announce a change to those rules.
The Xbox version supports Xbox Play Anywhere and cloud saves within Microsoft’s ecosystem. That is not confirmation of a save transfer to Steam, PlayStation or Nintendo. Frog Sqwad crossplay and cross-save are different features.
How many players can use Frog Sqwad crossplay?
Hosted co-op supports eight players in total, including the host. You can play with a smaller group too. The team explores the sewers, solves physics puzzles and gathers food for the Swamp King.
Frog Sqwad also has random matchmaking. In June, those random lobbies had a four-player limit, but hosted groups supported more players. The October 28 announcement does not give a replacement matchmaking limit. The confirmed eight-player maximum refers to co-op groups.
Frog Sqwad 2.0: all 11 new rooms
The same update adds 11 rooms. Panic Stations listed these names in its October 28 announcement alongside Frog Sqwad crossplay:

The rooms include a museum laser heist, a Minesweeper-style challenge and a shifting maze. The update also adds a Cult of the Lamb collaboration hat. The announcement does not give an unlock method for the hat.
Is Frog Sqwad on Xbox Game Pass?
Frog Sqwad launched for Xbox and PC on June 11, 2026 and joined Xbox Game Pass. Our June Game Pass guide covers that release. The October 28 update added PS5, Switch 2 and Frog Sqwad crossplay.
You still need access to the game and any required online membership. Nintendo Switch Online is required for Switch 2 online play, and the PlayStation Store lists PS Plus as required for PS5 online play. Xbox console multiplayer also has an eligible subscription requirement.
