Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction is a DMZ Story Mission at Mirae General Hospital in Hajin. You need to find General Kang in the hospital, sedate him through the interaction prompt, wheel his hospital bed to the elevators and get him inside the helicopter on the roof. Simply reaching the roof doesn’t complete the escort.
The October 25 patch closed a shortcut around the Hospital Elevator objective, so older videos that skip it can lead you astray. Below is the route through Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction, including both elevator rides, what to bring and how to finish the rooftop escort.
How to start Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction in DMZ
- At the Forward Operating Base, open Deploy and select Story Missions.
- Choose Operation Critical Extraction and check the mission card for its threat assessment and rewards.
- Equip the selected Active Duty Operator. The mission recommends a 2-Plate Armor Vest and a Medkit; spare ammunition is helpful during the escort.
- Ready up and deploy into Hajin. Follow the Approach the Hospital marker toward Mirae General Hospital.
The mission card rates the job Medium threat and recommends a 2-Plate Armor Vest and Medkit. The hospital itself can display Low threat, but there are plenty of soldiers between Kang and the helicopter. You can select Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction among the first Story Missions without finishing an entire chapter of DMZ Orders. Other squads may be on the map at the same time.
Where is General Kang in Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction?
Go through the hospital’s ground-floor entrance and fight through the elevator hall toward the wards. Look for the PATIENT ROOM and NURSE STATION signs. General Kang lies on a wheeled bed in the upper patient area near the ICU. Follow the Find General Kang star above his room; the recorded runs do not establish one fixed numbered floor to follow instead of the marker.
Clear the nearby soldiers and approach the bed. Use the Use Sedative Inhaler to Avoid Detection prompt on Kang. That secures him and changes the objective to Move Gen. Kang to Safety. You don’t need to find a separate inhaler in another room in the documented route.
Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction: bed and elevator objectives
- Once the interaction registers, follow Move Gen. Kang to Safety and begin pushing the wheeled bed toward the marked elevator.
- Keep the bed moving through the corridor, stopping to deal with soldiers who block the route. The escort progresses when the bed reaches the marked area, not merely when you run ahead.
- Bring the bed into the first elevator and use its controls as prompted. This route takes you toward the hospital’s ground-floor or lobby area.
- Move the bed toward the second elevator bank and follow Wait for the Elevators to Open. Defend the area as the lift becomes available.
- Push Kang through the next elevator and follow the rooftop objective. Do not leave the bed behind while your Operator moves up alone.
- On the roof, move Kang’s bed along the marked path and into the exfil helicopter. Wait for Secure Gen. Kang in the Exfil Chopper to complete.
The mission card summarises the job as locating, securing and extracting the high-value target. The HUD breaks that into more steps, including Wait for the Elevators to Open and, in some runs, Move Gen. Kang to the Roof. Don’t leave the bed at an elevator just because your Operator can reach the next floor alone.
Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction: Why can’t I skip the elevator?
Infinity Ward’s October 25, 2026 patch fixed a way to bypass the Hospital Elevator objective during Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction. Older videos recorded before the patch may show players getting around the lift stage, but that is not a reliable completion route now.
If Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction isn’t advancing, look at the current marker. Push Kang’s bed all the way into the first lift, use the controls and return to the bed after each elevator ride. During Wait for the Elevators to Open, defend the lobby until the next doors open. The shortcut through the hospital lift objective was fixed on October 25.
The helicopter is here, so why hasn’t the mission finished?
Because Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction requires Kang to be secured in the exfil chopper, not just you. The bed must be pushed into the helicopter along the objective route. If the roof marker is visible but the mission remains incomplete, move back to the bed and check that the interaction and escort have advanced.
The mission completes as soon as Kang’s bed is inside the helicopter. You can stay aboard and extract with him, or step off to continue playing DMZ. This mission-specific helicopter isn’t the same as calling a regular exfil elsewhere on Hajin. See the DMZ exfil guide for those options.
Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction: Mirae key and Defibrillator rewards
The Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction mission card lists a Mirae Electrical Room Key, a Defibrillator and 25,000 DMZ Cash. One recorded October 20 run showed only 5,000 DMZ Cash as its Story Mission payout despite that advertised amount. Check your completion summary and Bank rather than assuming the listed cash always matches the payout.
Rather than promise a fixed Bank increase, check your mission card, ending summary and DMZ Bank balance. This also helps distinguish the stated mission reward from the amount recorded in a single mission’s cash summary.
Best loadout for Modern Warfare 4 Critical Extraction
A 2-Plate Vest and Medkit match the official mission recommendation. Bring enough ammunition to clear the hospital corridors and cover elevator waits. During the bed escort, one teammate can manage the interaction while another watches nearby doors, especially in the elevator bank where you’re waiting for the next objective.
Bring spare ammunition. The documented route has a long firefight around the elevator lobby, and you can pick up weapons from soldiers as you go. One teammate should push the bed while the others watch the corridors; alone, clear enemies before taking the bed through an exposed area.
What to check when the mission seems stuck
If you can’t find Kang, return to the active Find General Kang marker inside the hospital. If the bed won’t progress, check whether you’ve triggered the sedative prompt and whether you’re on the correct escort stage. If the elevator stays closed, make sure the current marker is the Wait for the Elevators to Open objective rather than a route bypass.
If the roof objective still hasn’t completed, push Kang into the helicopter cabin, not just onto the helipad. Infinity Ward specifically fixed the elevator bypass, not every possible mission bug. Check the official issue tracker if the prompts still won’t advance.
