The First Descendant Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant: How to Stop It Reaching the Point

Official comparison of Onslaught Stage 4 and 5 event menus

The Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant can cost your team 10% Energy if it reaches the Energy Concentration Point in The First Descendant. It is a different kind of threat from the ordinary Vulgus rushing the objective: killing everything quickly is useful, but you also need to control the Tyrant’s path before it gets through.

Nexon’s official Stage 5 rules give players two tools to work with. Barricades can block its movement, and killing the Tyrant also eliminates nearby normal and elite Vulgus. Knowing when to use each mechanic makes the Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant more manageable, especially when the wave is getting crowded and the team is already looking ahead to the final Colossus.

How to stop the Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant

When the Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant appears, pay attention to its approach towards the Energy Concentration Point, not just its health. Barricades are the confirmed way to block its movement. Place a barricade between the approaching Tyrant and the Energy Concentration Point while there is still room to react. Once its movement is blocked, concentrate damage on the Tyrant instead of chasing the smaller enemies nearby: defeating it can clear those enemies as well.

The Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant also has an unusual advantage for your team once it dies: normal and elite Vulgus inside a certain radius die with it. This makes the kill especially useful when smaller enemies have gathered near the Tyrant. There’s no published measurement for that radius, so plan for some enemies to survive outside it. Once the Tyrant drops, check the objective again and clean up anything that remains.

What happens when a Tyrant reaches the Energy Concentration Point?

The consequence is straightforward: one Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant entering the Energy Concentration Point reduces your Energy by 10%. That number comes directly from Nexon’s October 15 update notes. It is an Energy penalty, not a score reduction or a damage multiplier. The more often the route is left unprotected, the harder it becomes to finish the defence comfortably.

Watch the point while other players are clearing the wave, particularly if the fight has shifted far away from the objective. A team that can destroy a Commander quickly can still lose Energy to a Tyrant that slips past. If you’re failing repeated attempts, try making point protection an explicit responsibility instead of asking everyone to chase damage. The Stage 5 unlock and rewards guide covers the wider six-wave run.

Does the Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant resist weak-point damage?

Yes. Nexon added Weak Point Damage Resistance to the Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant, the Commander and the Colossus. Higher resistance means these enemies take less damage from weak-point hits. It doesn’t mean critical hits or precision are always useless, and it doesn’t give us enough information to claim one universal best weapon. Your actual output still depends on the weapon, modules and target.

Ordinary monsters in Stage 5 have a separate change: they no longer have a Weak Point Damage Adjustment Value. Those two rules are easy to confuse, but they describe different enemies and different adjustments. If a weak-point-focused setup is melting normal enemies yet struggling against the Tyrant, this resistance is one factor worth checking.

The Monster Hunter assault rifle is relevant to the Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant because critical hits against a Tyrant can inflict Monster Hunter on the target. Its additional critical-damage interaction is explained in that dedicated weapon guide. For the separate Battlefield buff, see our Battlefield Monster Hunter coverage.

Team strategy for Stage 5’s six waves

The Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant is not the only thing your team needs to handle. Stage 5 has six waves, followed by a Colossus. Keeping Energy intact during the defence matters because the final encounter still has to be completed. Agree on who’s placing barricades, who’s burning down the Tyrant and who’s watching the Energy Concentration Point before the waves get hectic.

JobWhat to focus onReason
Objective defenceWatch Tyrant routes and use barricades before the Energy Concentration Point is exposedEach Tyrant breach costs 10% Energy
Priority damageEliminate the Tyrant when smaller Vulgus are close enough to be caught in its death effectThe kill can remove nearby normal and elite enemies as well
Wave clearingDeal with enemies outside the Tyrant’s effect radiusThe death effect is not a guaranteed whole-wave clear
Final boss preparationKeep a capable damage setup ready for the Colossus after Wave 6The encounter doesn’t finish as soon as the ordinary waves end

If you’re choosing a Descendant for the run, read the current Freyna, Gley and Enzo rework guides before copying an older build. The balance changes continued in patch 1.4.6 on October 22. Whoever you’re playing, keep one player aware of the point while the others handle the wave.

Stage 5 unlock requirements and public matchmaking

You can only face the Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant once you’ve completed Stage 4 at least once. From there, launch Stage 5 through Tactical Transport Control in Albion or the World Map content menu. Public Operations require 93,300 Arche Activity, while Private Operations are available below that threshold. In other words, falling short of 93,300 blocks public entry, not every way to start Stage 5.

October 23 access warning: Hotfix 1.4.6b repaired the Stage 4 mission-completion bug and briefly lifted its entry restriction. Nexon’s updated October 23 known-issues notice then confirmed a new Stage 4 restriction while it investigates Beginner’s Guide quests not activating. If Stage 4 is blocked for you, the problem isn’t necessarily your Arche Activity or squad. Check our October known-issues guide for the latest distinction between the resolved mission bug and the newer restriction.

Is there a guaranteed Tyrant drop?

Stage 5’s reward table doesn’t list a guaranteed item from an individual Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant kill. The percentages in the completion table apply to finishing the whole mission, not defeating that enemy. Nexon’s Stage 5 table lists a 10.7% mission-completion chance for Transcendent Weapon Loot, which can contain Quality 301–400 Transcendent Weapons. It also lists a 29.4% completion chance for two Vulgus Bio Data Chips and 45.5% for two Ancestors Module Loot items.

Normal, elite and commander enemies in Stage 5 have a low chance to drop Transcendent Weapon Loot as well, but Nexon doesn’t supply an individual Tyrant-specific percentage. The Ancestors Module Fragments guide explains the related upgrade materials; the Transcendent Weapon rotation boost guide covers separate daily boosted content.

Did patch 1.4.6 change the Tyrant mechanics?

Patch 1.4.6 fixed Emergency Missions immediately completing in Waves 1 and 6, an incorrect Colossus arrival animation and overlapping Vulgus Special Assault Ship spawns. It did not announce the removal of the Onslaught Stage 5 Tyrant penalty, the barricade interaction or the nearby-Vulgus effect. Those are still the officially documented Stage 5 rules.

For a more reliable clear, watch the route, stop the Tyrant before it reaches the Energy Concentration Point and use its death effect to lighten the surrounding wave. Losing 10% Energy to a preventable breach is more costly than taking a little longer to secure a safe kill.
