Sims 4 white screen problems caused by some residential rental saves received a targeted fix in the October 27, 2026 patch. EA also fixed a separate endless-loading problem when placing Gallery lots built using Move Objects extensively. They are two different problems with different triggers.

Check what happened just before loading stopped. A white screen while opening a Residential Rental save is different from an endless spinner after placing a complex Gallery lot. EA released separate fixes for the two problems.

Is it a Sims 4 white screen or an endless loading screen?

EA’s October 20 Laundry List connected the white-screen report to affected Residential Rental saves. The final October 27 notes confirm that affected saves can load again, although some lot details may need rebuilding. A different fix improves routing when placing Gallery lots built with extensive Move Objects use.

Both fixes arrived on October 27, 2026: PC 1.129.39.1030, Mac 1.129.39.1230 and console 2.40. Neither fix covers every loading problem. Similar symptoms caused by outdated mods or other damaged saves need separate checks.

How to fix the Sims 4 white screen in rental worlds

EA confirms that the patch addresses the Sims 4 white screen affecting certain saves, including reports involving Residential Rental worlds. Install the update before removing any lot or household. EA says affected worlds can load again, although some lot details may need rebuilding.

Back up the original save before testing the updated game. Once your copy opens, check the rental lot for missing or moved objects before saving changes.

How to fix endless loading after Gallery lot placement

The separate endless-loading fix targets Gallery lot placement involving extensive use of bb.moveobjects. EA improved the navigation mesh that Sims use for routing. If the freeze started the moment you placed a complicated Gallery build, update the game and try that build again in a copied save.

Try placing the same Gallery build in a copied save after updating. If it still gets stuck, test whether an ordinary, simpler lot can be placed successfully. That comparison can help you decide whether the problem is tied to that build or affecting lot placement in general. If you need the normal build-mode controls, our Move Objects and free-placement guide explains how they work.

What if Sims 4 white screen has another cause?

Not every Sims 4 white screen is the rental-save bug. If yours persists, check whether outdated mods or custom content are involved and test in a copy without mods. Don’t save over your usual household while custom objects are missing.

Before removing files, back up your save and Mods folder. If the affected manual save still fails after updating, go to Load Game, select the save, then choose Recover Save (the floppy-disk icon) to try an earlier recovery point. This can help establish whether your Sims 4 white screen started after a particular save, but it won’t fix outdated mods. Keep the original backup before restoring anything. You can use our safe mod-free troubleshooting guide or save not loading guide for wider causes. Don’t delete the affected household simply because loading fails.

How to test the Sims 4 white screen fix safely

Keep an untouched backup while testing. If the world opens, check rental lots for missing objects before saving. If the screen is still white, follow the mod-free checks above rather than deleting the affected save.

If you’re testing a Gallery lot, check whether you can place it without the endless loading loop. EA’s improvement is specifically designed for complex Move Objects routing, not a general guarantee that every Gallery lot will be error-free.

Does EA guarantee every white screen is fixed?

No. EA fixed specific cases: a Sims 4 white screen involving affected saves and endless loading after certain Gallery lot placements. Other problems, including incompatible mods, need separate fixes.

For the broader October 27 release, see our update overview, and the broken-mods compatibility guide for safe mod checks. If the exact problem continues after installing the patch, report the affected save and steps to reproduce it to EA’s official bug-report forum.
