ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm: Lightning, Loot, Fossilized Lightning and Schedule

Snow-covered Pendola Pass with fallen Emperor in ARC Raiders

ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm is a major map condition that fills the surface with lightning strikes, disables Raider Hatches, reduces the number of active Return Points and increases loot value. The lightning can damage and stun Raiders, but it can also disable or destroy ARC machines, creating openings you can exploit.

The condition is dangerous because it affects both movement and extraction. During an ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm, you need to watch the ground for the blue warning glow, keep an exit in mind from the start and avoid relying on a Hatch Key as your backup plan.

What changes during an ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm?

An ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm changes four important parts of a raid at the same time: lightning becomes a constant environmental hazard, Raider Hatches stop working, fewer Return Points are available and the map offers higher-value loot.

Storm effectWhat it means
Lightning strikesRaiders and ARC caught in the strike can be damaged or stunned
Fewer Return PointsExtraction routes are more limited
No Raider HatchesRaider Hatch Keys cannot be used to extract
Increased loot valueThe higher risk comes with stronger loot opportunities
More crashed Probes and CouriersExtra scavenging targets can appear during the condition

The combination makes the ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm a useful farming condition when you already know the map. It is much less forgiving when you are learning a route for the first time because one bad lightning strike can leave you stunned in the open while ARC or another Raider is nearby.

How to avoid lightning strikes

Lightning in an ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm gives you a visible warning before it lands. Watch for a blue glow or sparking patch on the ground. Move away from that area immediately instead of trying to tank the hit.

The damage is strongest near the centre of the strike and can stun you for a short period. Jumping does not avoid the hit because the danger zone extends above the ground. Your best defence is simply moving clear as soon as the warning appears.

  • Watch the ground while crossing open areas.
  • Move sideways out of the blue warning zone instead of stopping to loot.
  • Avoid fighting directly on a fresh lightning marker.
  • Use buildings and covered routes when possible.
  • Keep enough stamina to reposition if a strike appears during combat.

Can lightning damage ARC machines?

Yes. One of the biggest advantages of an ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm is that lightning affects ARC as well as Raiders. Small ARC machines can be destroyed outright, while larger machines can be temporarily disabled.

When a larger ARC is stunned by lightning, it shows a visible electrical effect and temporarily stops moving or reacting. That can give you a short opportunity to reposition, attack a weak point or cross an area that would normally be much harder to pass.

Ground machines such as Bastions can become much safer to approach while disabled. Flying ARC can also be knocked out of the sky by a strike, which can create a valuable opening if you were already fighting them.

How to get Fossilized Lightning

Fossilized Lightning is a unique item tied to the ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm. It can appear after lightning strikes the ground, so the same hazard you are avoiding can also create a useful pickup.

Look around recent strike locations for a root-like object with a subtle orange glow. Do not run into an active warning zone just because you want the item; wait for the strike to finish, check the area and then move in.

Fossilized Lightning can be salvaged or recycled into Explosive Compound. If you need Explosive Compound for crafting, an ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm gives you another farming route beyond ordinary scavenging.

Is loot better during an Electromagnetic Storm?

Yes. ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm lists increased loot value as one of its condition effects. Crashed Probes and Couriers also appear in greater numbers, giving you more high-value scavenging targets while the storm is active.

The condition does not turn every ordinary container into top-tier loot, so build a route around the map’s naturally valuable areas rather than looting every low-value room. The storm is strongest when you combine its better loot with places you already know are worth checking.

Can you use Raider Hatches during the storm?

No. Raider Hatches are disabled during an ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm. Bringing a Raider Hatch Key does not give you a hidden emergency extraction while the condition is active.

Check the active Return Points as soon as the raid starts and choose your route with those exits in mind. Fewer Return Points are available than normal, so the remaining ones can attract more Raider traffic near the end of a run.

Best loadout for an Electromagnetic Storm

A strong ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm loadout should help you survive sudden damage without carrying so much value that one stun turns into a painful loss. Bring healing, reliable medium-range damage and enough ammunition to deal with ARC that the lightning does not disable for you.

  • Healing: lightning damage can leave you vulnerable even if the strike does not kill you.
  • Reliable primary weapon: useful when the storm forces you into an unexpected fight.
  • ARC damage: take advantage of stunned machines rather than relying on lightning to finish every fight.
  • Backpack space: leave room for Fossilized Lightning, Probes, Couriers and valuable loot.
  • No Hatch Key dependency: Raider Hatches are disabled, so plan around Return Points instead.

How to use lightning against ARC

You can turn the ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm into an advantage by watching how ARC move through the strike zones. If a large machine is standing near a blue lightning marker, give the strike room to land instead of immediately pushing into the same area.

Once the machine is disabled, use the short window to move, attack or disengage. Do not stay in the same spot after the strike; another lightning warning can appear while you are focused on the stunned target.

Which maps get Electromagnetic Storm?

ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm appears on Embark’s rotating Map Conditions schedule. The available map changes throughout the day, and the official schedule shows which map is active now plus the next storm window.

On October 18, for example, Embark’s schedule shows Electromagnetic Storm on Dam Battlegrounds in one-hour windows. The exact map and time will keep rotating, so check the live schedule before preparing a storm-specific route.

How long does Electromagnetic Storm last?

The published ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm schedule uses one-hour condition windows. When that hour finishes, the map rotates out of the storm and another condition can take its place.

If you are specifically farming Fossilized Lightning or storm loot, check how much time remains before deploying. A nearly finished window can leave you with less opportunity than waiting for the next full hour.

Is Electromagnetic Storm worth doing?

ARC Raiders Electromagnetic Storm is worth doing when you want higher-value loot, extra Probe and Courier opportunities or Fossilized Lightning, especially if you already know a safe route through the selected map.

It is a poor choice when you need a relaxed quest run or depend on Raider Hatches for extraction. The lightning, fewer exits and increased difficulty make mistakes much more expensive than they are in a normal deployment.
