FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13 has taken every Final Fantasy XIV World offline for Patch 7.57. Square Enix started the shutdown at 11 a.m. BST on Monday, October 12, 2026, and scheduled a 24-hour maintenance window affecting Europe, North America, Japan and Oceania.
The patch is also preparing Japanese data centres for a bigger Duty Finder and Party Finder pool, which means some account and character-travel services are affected too. Server return times can change, so check Square Enix’s latest notice before assuming it’s safe to log in again.
FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13: When will servers return?
The expected end of FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13 is Tuesday, October 13 at 11:00 a.m. BST. That’s 10 a.m. UTC or 3 a.m. PDT. The planned outage is 24 hours, although Square Enix warns that the actual completion time may change.
| Region | Start October 12 | End October 13 |
|---|---|---|
| UK (BST) | 11:00 a.m. | 11:00 a.m. |
| UTC/GMT | 10:00 a.m. | 10:00 a.m. |
| US Pacific (PDT) | 3:00 a.m. | 3:00 a.m. |
| Australian AEDT | 9:00 p.m. | 9:00 p.m. |
Those are the same global outage in different time zones. FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13 applies to all Worlds, not only the Japanese data centre where the new same-region matching features will be switched on.

Why is FFXIV down for Patch 7.57?
The main work is installing Patch 7.57 and expanding matchmaking between Japan’s Elemental, Gaia, Mana and Meteor data centres. Once that regional rollout is ready, players there can recruit across those four centres without first moving to a different logical data centre. Europe, North America and Oceania receive this new feature later, with no confirmed rollout dates.
While FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13 is underway, you cannot enter any World to run a duty, complete quests, use Party Finder or play normally. A successful patch download does not mean maintenance is finished; servers must reopen before characters can enter again.
Services affected by FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13
- All Worlds: FFXIV gameplay is unavailable throughout the scheduled outage.
- Data Centre Travel: suspended 30 minutes before maintenance began, at 10:30 a.m. BST October 12, and unavailable until it finishes.
- Home World Transfers: paused during the same early suspension window.
- Character Renaming: also temporarily disabled.
- Mog Station item and gift codes: code entry is unavailable during maintenance.
- Companion App: affected by its own scheduled maintenance.
- The Lodestone: parts of the site and character information may be unavailable or delayed during separate website work.
If a paid service isn’t available during FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13, wait until Square Enix says that maintenance is finished. Repeatedly trying to transfer a character or redeem a code won’t bypass a temporary service suspension.
Why did my FFXIV character return to its Home World?
Square Enix says some travelling characters are being returned automatically while the system is updated. This covers characters with a Home World on Japan’s data centre, plus characters with North American or European Home Worlds who were visiting Oceania. Check the Home World character list first when FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13 ends.
The game isn’t announcing a reset of your character or inventory. It is returning affected travellers before updating how World Visit and Data Centre Travel behave. After the patch, travel between Japanese logical data centres will use World Visit, while Japan-to-Oceania travel remains a Data Centre Travel option.

FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13: Launcher errors and downtime
Square Enix added a notice for an additional launcher issue from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. BST on October 13. Players may not be able to open the launcher at all during this portion of FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13. That doesn’t mean the entire 24-hour maintenance has ended, and reinstalling the game is unlikely to help while the service is deliberately unavailable.
If you’re still seeing connection errors near the scheduled return, read the official Lodestone news or check FFXIV World Status. Square Enix says that if its normal news publishing system is unavailable, urgent updates may instead appear on the official FFXIV forums or its English X account.
Can I use older Duty Recorder data after maintenance?
No. Duty Recorder data captured before the patch will not replay afterward. This is a specific warning in the maintenance notice rather than a general problem with video files on your device. Players who planned to revisit an old recorded duty should be aware of the loss of playback compatibility.
What to check when FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13 finishes
- Confirm that Square Enix has announced the end of the all-Worlds outage.
- Install any Patch 7.57 update waiting in the launcher.
- Look at your World in the official server status listing.
- If you travelled before downtime, try your Home World before assuming the character has disappeared.
- Give the Companion App, Mog Station and travel functions time to reopen if those have separate notices.
The announced return for FFXIV Server Maintenance October 12-13 remains 11 a.m. BST on October 13, but the official recovery notice is what confirms that players can actually log in. If the outage is extended, don’t rely on the original estimate after Square Enix has changed it.
