Clash Royale Collection Level: How It Works and All Rewards

Clash Royale Collection Level replaced King’s Journey and XP in the May 2026 progression overhaul, so it now gives the clearest measure of how developed your card collection actually is. Instead of earning an abstract XP total, progress is calculated from the levels of cards you own plus bonuses for Hero and Evolution forms. Every unlock and upgrade is therefore visible in the same progression system. The result is a progression score that follows the collection itself much more closely.

The change also moved valuable rewards such as Gems and Wild Cards away from older Mastery structures and into Collection Level milestones. Players returning from King’s Journey can therefore miss rewards or misunderstand what raises their account level. The current formula is straightforward, but milestone frequency, King Tower requirements and upgrade efficiency are worth understanding before spending Gold. For returning players, Clash Royale Collection Level is therefore the system to check before using older XP advice.

How Clash Royale Collection Level is calculated

Clash Royale Collection Level is the sum of the levels of every card you own, plus five levels for every unlocked Evolution and Hero form. Tower Troops count toward Collection Level, while Merge Tactics Rulers do not. Unlocking a new card adds its base level and each later card upgrade adds one more Collection Level.

Rarity does not change the value of an individual upgrade. A Common upgrade and a Legendary upgrade each add one level, although newly unlocked higher-rarity cards can enter the collection at a higher base level.

The formula makes Clash Royale Collection Level unusually transparent compared with the old XP system. A newly unlocked higher-rarity card can add several levels immediately because cards enter the collection at different base levels, but every later upgrade adds exactly one. Hero and Evolution forms each add five more, so a player can predict the effect of an unlock before spending resources instead of guessing how much hidden XP it will create.

Collection Level rewards and milestones

The first milestone reward arrives at Collection Level 20. Rewards then appear every 10 levels until 1500, and every five levels from 1500 onward. Current reward types include Gems, Wild Cards across all rarities, Magic Lucky Chests, Evolution Boxes, banners and a Tower Skin.

Reward typeDocumented total
Gems14,955
Common Wild Cards28,920
Rare Wild Cards7,850
Epic Wild Cards1,327
Legendary Wild Cards58
Champion Wild Cards19
5-Star Magic Lucky Chests28
Evolution Boxes13
Exclusive Banners6
Exclusive Tower Skin1

Those are totals across the full milestone path, not a bundle given to a new account. Individual rewards still require the corresponding milestone.

How Collection Level affects King Tower Level

King Tower Level no longer rises from XP. It now depends on having enough cards upgraded to specified levels. Tower Troops contribute to Clash Royale Collection Level itself but do not count toward the separate card-upgrade requirement for raising King Tower Level.

That means Clash Royale Collection Level can reward broad collection development even when a card is outside your main ladder deck. A cheap upgrade can move Collection Level and help long-term account depth without needing to be part of your current eight-card deck.

King Tower progress and Clash Royale Collection Level are connected without being identical. Collection Level measures the whole collection, while King Tower Level now checks how many cards have been upgraded to the required levels. Tower Troops count toward Collection Level, but Supercell’s progression notes distinguish them from the card-upgrade requirements used for King Tower advancement, so one number should not be treated as a substitute for the other.

How to raise Collection Level efficiently

Upgrade cards you actively use first, then look for inexpensive upgrades across neglected low-level cards when you are close to a milestone. Because every ordinary upgrade adds one level, spending a huge amount of Gold on one late upgrade solely for Collection Level can be less efficient than several cheaper upgrades.

Unlocking a Hero or Evolution adds five levels at once. Mastery can support the same loop indirectly because current Mastery rewards provide Gold that funds more card upgrades.

When Gold is limited, Clash Royale Collection Level can reward a mix of focused and broad upgrading. Your main deck still deserves priority because those levels affect battles, but cheap upgrades on neglected cards can be efficient when you are close to a milestone. The useful comparison is the Gold cost per additional Collection Level, not simply whether a card is fashionable in the current meta.

Milestones make it useful to check how close the account is before a large spending session. Clash Royale Collection Level rises one step for every normal card upgrade, so several cheap upgrades can sometimes reach the next reward for less Gold than one expensive late-game level. That does not mean upgrading random cards forever, but it gives players a sensible secondary plan after the cards in their main deck have reached the levels they currently need.

Can Collection Level decrease?

Normal progression does not reduce Clash Royale Collection Level. The system reflects owned card levels and unlocked forms, so upgrades move it upward. During the 2026 migration, Supercell also protected King Tower progress so a player’s King Tower Level would stay the same or increase rather than fall.

Because it measures permanent account progress, Clash Royale Collection Level remains intact even while seasonal ladders and event progress reset around it. New card, Hero and Evolution unlocks can raise it again without taking away levels you have already earned.
