ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records contains 83 enemy pilot records across the Wings of Theve campaign. There are 52 pilots in scripted special units and another 31 hidden Aces who appear only when you satisfy a mission condition on Veteran difficulty or higher.
Each Ace has a callsign, aircraft and trigger, while the special units can contain several individual records in one battle. The tables below identify every pilot and explain how to complete the collection for the A Record of Rivalry trophy.
ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records: Total Records and How to Check Them

Find the ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records menu at Data Viewer > Campaign Data > Campaign Assault Records. This is a single-player collection and has no Ace Combat Online requirement. Once you’ve completed the story, Free Mission lets you revisit individual sorties for anything you missed.
| Record type | Count | Rule |
|---|---|---|
| Conditional named Aces | 31 | Veteran, Elite or Ace difficulty, plus a mission trigger. |
| Special-unit pilots | 52 | Shoot down each listed aircraft in its campaign encounter. |
| Total | 83 | Collect them all for A Record of Rivalry. |
The hidden Aces unlock exclusive paint schemes for the aircraft they fly. Clear the mission after shooting one down so the record saves; leaving the sortie early can waste a successful spawn. The trophy guide has the other requirements for completing the campaign checklist.
ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records: All 31 Conditional Aces
The ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records hidden-pilot list has one Ace on each numbered mission except Mission 14, with a second Ace in Missions 23 and 25. Select Veteran or higher, complete the trigger, destroy the named plane and finish the sortie. The Prologue has no conditional Ace.
ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records: Missions 01 to 10
| Mission | Ace / aircraft | Spawn condition |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | Gigas (Mirage 2000-5) | Destroy every non-TGT enemy aircraft. |
| 02 | Crematio (A-6E Intruder) | Destroy four aircraft in the first three minutes. |
| 03 | Raia (F/A-18C Hornet) | Destroy all bombers before they close on White Valley Base. |

| 08 | Tessera (MiG-21bis Fishbed) | Destroy all non-TGT surface weapons. |
| 09 | Judex (MiG-29A Fulcrum) | Destroy the battleship’s secondary tread armour before the second slowdown line. |
| 10 | Vorago (F-15C Eagle) | Destroy an airship within 70 seconds of laser targeting. |
Mission 04, Auster: Use the Newfield Island tunnel entrance from Anderson Port. Mission 05, Custos: Don’t lose any friendly LCAC. The early timed Aces demand different priorities: Crematio needs four aircraft in three minutes, while Flamma needs five TGTs in the same period.
ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records: Missions 11 to 20
| Mission | Ace / aircraft | Spawn condition |
|---|---|---|
| 11 | Larus (F-14D Super Tomcat) | Destroy every Shadow before the Podarge goes down. |
| 12 | Imber (F/A-18F Super Hornet) | Destroy all LCACs within three minutes of takeoff. |
| 13 | Sicarius (Su-47 Berkut) | Destroy five radar towers before the transport lands. |
| 15 | Lupus (Su-33 Flanker-D) | Destroy one Ladon, down Lupus, then destroy the second Ladon. |
| 16 | Currus (F-16C Fighting Falcon) | Allow the UAVs to launch. |

| 19 | Aleator (F/A-18E Super Hornet) | Destroy every Su-47. |
| 20 | Periodus (Su-35S Flanker-E) | Destroy at least one B-2 bomber. |
Mission 15, Lupus: Destroy the first Ladon, then the Su-33 Ace. Leave the other Ladon alive until Lupus is down. Mission 16, Currus: Allow the UAVs to launch, rather than wiping out the mission objectives beforehand. Both are ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records triggers you can lose by progressing too quickly.
ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records: Missions 21 to 30
| Mission | Ace / aircraft | Spawn condition |
|---|---|---|
| 21 | Alienus (EA-18G Growler) | Sink every enemy ship. |

Mission 23 includes Milvus and Cantrix, which share the same three-minute Lux Lunae clear. Mission 25 includes Cinis and Silacrum, which have different requirements. Save enough time to fly below the Podarges for Silacrum before ending the sortie.
ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records: All 52 Special-Unit Pilots
The other 52 ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records entries belong to Lux Lunae and several other enemy formations. Their aircraft appear through campaign events, but each pilot still has a separate record. This table includes every individual callsign, aircraft type and mission.

| 08 | Lux Lunae 150th (F-16C Fighting Falcon) | Aranea, Luscinia, Vespa, Cerambyx, Lucanus, Locusta, Libellula, Gallus | 8 |

| 25 | Lux Lunae 120th (Gripen E) | Athleta, Gladius, Flagrum, Lancea | 4 |
| 28 | Lux Lunae 22nd (Su-57 Felon) | Doctus, Salatrix, Acrobates, Anteros, Ares | 5 |
| 29 | 1st Special Operations Wing Commander (X-40 Nightmare) | Selene | 1 |
Most squadrons appear without any secret spawn condition. Mission 03 has four records, Mission 08 has twelve, Mission 20 has ten, and Mission 25 has twelve. The ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records table includes the two 8th Pastoral Air Wing pilots in Mission 23 and Selene, the X-40 Nightmare pilot encountered in Mission 29.
There is one exception among the special units: the five members of Lux Lunae 22nd in Mission 28. If you haven’t already destroyed Shadow 24 in Mission 18, that squadron won’t be available on the later mission. Their five missing records can leave the collection short even after every other battle is complete.
ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records: Mission 18 and Mission 28 Connection
In Mission 18, Moonlight and Shadows, destroy Shadow 24 near the launch pad. This summons Curis, the mission’s hidden F-15J Eagle Ace. The same action allows the Lux Lunae 22nd Unit to appear in Mission 28, A Thousand Points of Light.
The five ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records names linked to that mission are Doctus, Salatrix, Acrobates, Anteros and Ares, all flying Su-57 Felons. If the unit is missing, replay Mission 18, destroy Shadow 24 and complete the sortie before returning to Mission 28. Keep the record viewer open between runs so you can confirm progress.
Mission 28 also contains Harmonius, a separate conditional F-35C Lightning II Ace. Destroy five bombers within the first five minutes to summon Harmonius. Once Shadow 24’s requirement is satisfied, you can work towards both the Lux Lunae 22nd Unit and Harmonius during the same mission.
ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records: Difficult Spawns and Common Mistakes
Orcus, Mission 07: Destroy the Land Aegis via the required chain reaction. Blowing it up normally can prevent the EA-6B Ace from appearing. Judex, Mission 09: Hit the Land Battleship’s secondary tread armour before its second slowdown line, or the opportunity passes.
Larus, Mission 11: Destroy all Shadows before destroying the Podarge. If the main craft falls first, the required Ace won’t spawn. Caligo, Mission 22: Move close to Celaeno without being spotted. It’s an approach objective, not a target-count challenge.
Stiria, Mission 27: Fly through a Megafloat spoke gap. Prudens, Mission 29: Fly under an urban highway bridge. These flight-path ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records entries require passing through the actual opening, so avoid destroying the last target before completing the manoeuvre.
Tegimen, Mission 30: Take out three submarine-launched swarm missile dispensers before they release their payload. If missiles are already airborne, destroying those dispensers afterward doesn’t satisfy the trigger. A quick jet and suitable weapon selection help; the special-weapons guide
Why ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records Are Missing After a Mission
The 31 conditional ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records Aces only spawn on Veteran, Elite or Ace. Rookie and Pilot cannot trigger them, even when you perform the correct manoeuvre or destroy the required targets. If you are on a first playthrough, finish the campaign before dedicated Free Mission cleanup.
Destroying the Ace is only part of the requirement. Complete the entire mission after the kill, then check Data Viewer > Campaign Data > Campaign Assault Records. If the Ace was destroyed but you quit or failed the sortie, you may have to repeat it.
For a missing Lux Lunae 22nd Unit, work on Mission 18 first. For Mission 23, the three-minute timer begins after the Lux Lunae pilots arrive. For Mission 25, check the requirements for Cinis and Silacrum separately; neither one’s trigger guarantees the other Ace will spawn.
ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records: Fastest Cleanup Order
First, compare the entire ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records collection with the two tables above. Note each missing callsign rather than blindly replaying every mission. If you still need the Lux Lunae 22nd Unit, clear Shadow 24 in Mission 18 before attempting Mission 28.
Next, choose Veteran for the optional Ace missions, unless you also want the extra challenge of Elite or Ace. Replay the timed targets in Missions 02, 06, 10, 12 and 28 with a route planned before takeoff. Work on the tunnel, bridge and Megafloat Aces separately if those flight paths are difficult to line up.
Use the mission list for mission names and the difficulty guide for the Veteran requirement. The S rank guide and MRP farming guide can help you combine remaining campaign challenges while collecting Aces.
Once all 83 ACE COMBAT 8 Assault Records entries are filled, A Record of Rivalry unlocks. The Ace paint schemes are separate rewards for the individual hidden pilots; our Aircraft Skins guide explains how to use them.
