Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat Settings give REDSEC players control over whether nearby voices are active, which voice channel is selected and how individual recent speakers are handled. The quickest controls sit below the Commo Rose.

EA also exposes recent Proximity Chat users through the Battle Royale scoreboard, where players can be muted, reported or blocked using EA Connect.

Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat Settings below the Commo Rose

Use the quick controls below the Commo Rose to swap voice channels and globally turn Proximity Chat on or off. This is the fastest way to change the feature during a match.

You do not need to dig through a full settings menu every time you want nearby voice disabled.

Recent-speaker controls

Open the Battle Royale scoreboard to see recent Proximity Chat users you have heard. Selecting a name opens EA Connect with options to mute, report or block.

This is the main per-player privacy and moderation layer for the live test.

Game voice chat defaults

Solo players and parties default to Game voice chat so they can participate in Proximity Chat. That default is intentional and can be changed with the available channel or global controls.

Players who prefer party-only communication should verify the active channel at the start of a match.

Spatial audio behaviour

Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat Settings do not reduce the system to a flat volume slider. Voices are directional and affected by walls, indoor spaces and vehicles.

That environmental processing is part of the live test EA is currently tuning.

Four-speaker limit

Only four Proximity Chat speakers can be heard simultaneously. The UI displays a warning when the cap is reached and additional speakers are temporarily squelched.

If a crowded fight sounds inconsistent, the four-speaker limit may be part of what you are hearing.

Settings may change during Labs testing

EA is evaluating audio range, clarity, controls and moderation before expanding Proximity Chat beyond REDSEC. Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat Settings can therefore change during the Labs in Live period.

The entire feature may also be temporarily disabled while fixes are deployed.

Which settings are actually confirmed

Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat Settings officially confirmed by EA are the global on/off control, quick channel switching, recent-speaker mute/report/block tools, Game voice defaults and the four-speaker audible cap.

EA has not published a separate player-facing slider for exact metre range, so do not look for a distance value that the current interface does not promise.

Privacy setup for a quieter match

If you want normal squad communication without nearby strangers, start by checking the active voice channel and global Proximity Chat toggle. That is less destructive than muting the entire game or changing platform-level communication permissions.

Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat Settings are meant to be changed in-match, which is why the fastest controls sit below the Commo Rose.

Moderation setup for public voice

Keep the scoreboard recent-speaker flow in mind before entering REDSEC with Proximity Chat enabled. It gives you a quick route to mute, report or block someone whose voice you have just heard.

That moderation access is part of the live test EA is evaluating alongside audio clarity and range.

Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat Settings for squads and solo players

Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat Settings matter slightly differently depending on whether you enter REDSEC solo, in a party or with a full squad. EA says solo players and parties default to Game voice chat so nearby interactions are available without extra setup.

If your group prefers private coordination, review Battlefield 6 Proximity Chat Settings before the round begins and change the active channel or global toggle instead of discovering the default during a fight.
