RuneScape MTX Clean Up Bank Filter helps players identify items scheduled to disappear or change during the 23 November 2026 update. Jagex added it on October 26 with two categories inside the Bank: MTX Item Removal and MTX Item Change.
The new filter needed an urgent launch-day fix. Left-clicking could originally destroy items instead of withdrawing them. Jagex corrected this on 26 October, but Destroy could still appear first on the right-click menu. Always check the action before selecting a valuable stack.
How to use the RuneScape MTX Clean Up Bank Filter
Open your Bank and find the Clean Up item filter. Jagex has confirmed the names of the two MTX categories, so you can follow the labels even if your interface looks different from someone else’s screenshot.
- Open your Bank and select the Clean Up filter.
- Choose MTX Item Removal to inspect items flagged for removal.
- Switch to MTX Item Change to inspect items whose effects or handling will change.
- Decide whether to use the item, keep it for its revised function or donate it when eligible at the Well.
- Before clicking, confirm that the action is Withdraw rather than Destroy.

The filter helps you identify affected items. It doesn’t exchange them for gold or mean that everything listed should be destroyed. What you do depends on whether Jagex has marked an item for removal or a change of function.
RuneScape MTX Clean Up Bank Filter: Removal versus Change
Removal covers many Treasure Hunter lamps and stars, protean materials, portable skilling stations and Silverhawk equipment. Change means an item will be revised, consolidated or converted in some other way, not necessarily deleted.
For instance, Spring Cleaner is being retained while springs and tight springs are being consolidated. Certain notepaper types are also changing. Our November 23 item guide explains those exceptions so you don’t mistake a revised item for a doomed one.
For an XP boost, November Double XP could be the time to use it. For an item being revised, keeping it may be better. That’s why it’s worth checking the two Bank categories separately.
RuneScape MTX Clean Up Bank Filter Destroy hotfix
When the filter went live on 26 October, players lost saved items because the default left-click action was Destroy, not Withdraw. Some had been keeping proteans for Double XP.
A Jagex moderator confirmed a hotfix at 13:53 BST on October 26, changing left-click from Destroy to Withdraw. The studio warned that Destroy could still show as the first context-menu option, however. It also said it was investigating restoration for items lost before the fix.
The hotfix made normal left-clicking withdraw an item, although the first right-click option could still be Destroy. Jagex also warned that a withdrawn item might take a moment to appear in the inventory. Check before clicking again.
Does the RuneScape MTX Clean Up Bank Filter sell items for GP?
No. The Well of Restoration is the separate event where eligible legacy MTX items can be donated for GP. Jagex plans the Well after November Double XP and ahead of the November 23 game update. Items in the removal category left over after the Well are set for automatic GP conversion at a lower rate.
The Well’s exact dates and conversion rates are not set out in the original September announcement. See our Well of Restoration guide for the order of events and the exclusive title for logging in while the Well is active.
When should you check the Bank filter?
Do it before 23 November, since Jagex specifies that affected items must be used before that day’s update. Use the filter to find what you own, then decide if its value is in training, GP conversion or a revised future use.
The RuneScape MTX Clean Up Bank Filter also helps you avoid unnecessary losses. Simply being in a category doesn’t mean an item should be destroyed now. Check whether Jagex plans to remove or change it before taking action.
The RuneScape MTX Clean Up Bank Filter is a sorting aid, not an automatic cleanup button. Read the two category labels, check the item, and use Jagex’s October 26 hotfix warning when selecting Bank actions.
