Finding Polka demo is a free PC download on Steam that lets you play the opening of lidlocks’ hand-drawn adventure. Released on 25 April 2026 by publisher PARCO GAMES, the trial introduces Frendy and her dog Jazz as they begin searching for a dog that resembles Polka, the pet Frendy knew in childhood.
You’ll play the start of Frendy’s story, exploring the first areas and meeting the locals rather than racing against a trial timer. The full game is also coming to Nintendo Switch in spring 2027, but this download is for Windows PC.
How to download the Finding Polka demo

Open the official Finding Polka Demo product page on Steam and choose the free installation option. Steam treats the demo as a separate application, so make sure you are selecting the trial rather than just wishlisting the unreleased full game. Once installed, launch it from your Steam library.
The Finding Polka demo is free and doesn’t require a purchase of the full game. Steam describes it as the beginning of the adventure, giving you an introduction to Frendy’s search without spoiling the rest of her journey.
What happens in the opening story?
Frendy lives with Jazz and has memories of her childhood dog Polka. One day she notices a strikingly familiar dog near a flower shop. Frendy and Jazz follow it, setting up the search that takes the pair through a playful world drawn with the feel of ballpoint pen marks.
In the Finding Polka demo, you explore the map looking for the dog, encounter unusual characters and help residents who need a hand. The friendships Frendy makes can support her when things get difficult. The atmosphere and relationships matter more than dialogue choices or battles.
Is there dialogue or voice acting?
The game’s official description makes a point of telling its story without dialogue or spoken words. Characters show emotion through facial expressions, subtle movements and sound effects. They can laugh, react with surprise and become friends without lengthy conversations. That gives the adventure a gentle visual language of its own.
The Finding Polka demo makes that approach easy to appreciate. Watch people’s reactions, follow their gestures and pay attention to what’s happening on screen. The story relies on those little moments rather than long spoken conversations.
PC system requirements
The official Steam minimum is Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i3-6100 processor, 4 GB of memory, Intel HD 530 graphics and 907 MB of available storage. Those are the minimum requirements listed for the demo itself, not a confirmed benchmark for the full Nintendo version.
The Finding Polka demo is a PC application. A Switch release announcement does not mean this particular demo can be installed from the Nintendo eShop or that a PC trial save can transfer to Nintendo hardware. Check each platform’s actual listing rather than assuming the downloads are interchangeable.
Does demo progress carry into the full game?
The publisher hasn’t announced save transfer from the Finding Polka demo to the finished game. Playing the opening now is a way to try the story, not a confirmed head start on the full release.
The Finding Polka demo also does not establish an exact length for the finished adventure. It is a sample of the opening setting and basic gameplay, with the remaining story intended for the full game. Any claim about a fixed number of chapters or collectibles would need additional official material.
When is the full game coming to Switch?
Nintendo has announced spring 2027 for the original Switch edition, without a specific day. It also says an additional stage will be available as paid downloadable content and that the extra requires the base game. Our release-date guide covers those console details separately.
For information on the console edition and its additional paid stage, see our Finding Polka Switch release-date guide. The Finding Polka demo remains the free way to try Frendy and Jazz’s adventure on PC.
