Xbox Free Play Days not showing in Microsoft Store? Start in the Free Play Days collection, then check the Microsoft account you’re using. Games with a subscriber-only offer won’t show the same install option to an account without a qualifying Game Pass membership.
The October 29 weekend has five games with different rules. Four need Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate; Dead by Daylight is open to all Xbox members. Here are the checks that help you find the free trial without accidentally buying the game.
Xbox Free Play Days not showing: where to find the free download
Open Microsoft Store on your console, select Subscriptions and find Free Play Days. Choose the game from that collection and select the temporary installation offer when it appears.
Alternatively, sign into Xbox.com and open the game’s listing. Follow the installation link through to Microsoft Store. If the page also shows a reduced purchase price, use the free trial option rather than Buy.
Xbox Free Play Days not showing on the right account
WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, Darkwood, Spirittea and EVERSPACE 2 require Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate from 29 October through 1 November. Make sure your Microsoft account has an active eligible membership before looking for the free install.
On a shared console, Xbox Free Play Days not showing can be an account issue. Sign into the profile with the qualifying subscription, reopen the game’s listing and check the available installation options again.
Which games don’t require Game Pass?
Dead by Daylight is the exception. All Xbox members can try it on console through Monday 2 November, without Game Pass. Find the game in Free Play Days and select its free access option.
That trial lasts one day longer than the four subscriber games. It’s a console offer, so choose the Xbox version rather than searching for a different PC storefront release.
Xbox Free Play Days not showing on PC
For PC players, Spirittea and EVERSPACE 2 are the two included games in the 29 October announcement. Use the Xbox app or Microsoft Store on Windows with your eligible Game Pass account to find their free offers.
WUCHANG, Darkwood and Dead by Daylight are listed for console. If Xbox Free Play Days not showing on PC involves one of those three, use an Xbox console for this specific promotion.
Xbox Free Play Days not showing after the deadline
WUCHANG, Darkwood, Spirittea and EVERSPACE 2 finish their trial on Sunday 1 November. Dead by Daylight continues through Monday 2 November. After a game’s deadline, its Store listing may only show the regular purchase options.
Make sure you’re looking at the base game instead of a Deluxe Upgrade, DLC or another edition. A discounted add-on is not the temporary free game licence.
Why the Store shows Buy instead of Install
Xbox has also advertised sales: WUCHANG is 30% off, Spirittea is 50% off, EVERSPACE 2 is 80% off, and Dead by Daylight is up to 60% off. These are optional purchases, not fees for joining the free weekend.
If the free button isn’t there, go back to the Free Play Days collection, check the signed-in account and open the base-game listing. The purchase discount and trial offer are separate options.
What if you’ve already installed the game?
Already installed the game? You’ll still need to launch it with an account that qualifies for the trial. The game files can stay on the console after the promotion, but its temporary licence stops working.
Xbox confirms that achievements and Gamerscore earned during Free Play Days can be kept after purchasing a game. Compatible saves can continue as well. Don’t delete your saved data while investigating an access problem.
