Wo Long 2 Demo Multiplayer is part of the public Alpha rather than a feature being saved for the finished release. The PlayStation Store lists three online players, while Team NINJA’s official system page says online gameplay lets players traverse battlefields together and take down formidable enemies as a group.
The Alpha is online-only, which means an internet connection is required even outside a multiplayer session. On PS5 there is one useful exception to the usual subscription rules: Sony explicitly says PlayStation Plus is not required for multiplayer sessions in this demo.

Wo Long 2 Demo Multiplayer supports up to three online players on PS5, matching Team NINJA’s broader emphasis on travelling the battlefield alongside other players. The Alpha also contains part of Changban, so the co-op test happens inside the same open-field environment used to demonstrate the new exploration and combat systems.
That three-player figure includes the host. Wo Long 2 Demo Multiplayer should therefore be planned as a group of up to three total rather than a host plus three guests. The final game also advertises multiplayer, although platform subscription requirements can differ from this special Alpha period.
How to start playing with friends
Download the same Alpha on a supported platform, make sure everyone has an internet connection and progress far enough for the game’s online options to become available. Because this is a live development test, follow the in-game multiplayer prompts rather than assuming every menu from Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is unchanged.
Wo Long 2 Demo Multiplayer is easiest when the group agrees on a host and joins from the same part of the Alpha. If a connection fails, first check the demo’s limited service window and platform network status before rebuilding characters or reinstalling the client.
Do PS5 players need PlayStation Plus for the Alpha?
No. The PlayStation Store specifically states that players do not need a PlayStation Plus subscription for multiplayer sessions in the Wo Long 2 Alpha Demo. That is an Alpha-specific rule and should not automatically be assumed for the finished game after launch.
For Wo Long 2 Demo Multiplayer on PS5, you still need an internet connection because the entire Alpha is listed as online play required. Free multiplayer access removes the Plus paywall, not the need to connect to PlayStation Network and the demo services.
What multiplayer systems the full game is showing already
Team NINJA also describes asynchronous multiplayer where player characters from around the world can appear as enemy warriors. Defeating those warriors can turn them into allies, giving the sequel another social system alongside direct co-op.
Wo Long 2 Demo Multiplayer is therefore only one part of the online design. The Alpha is the best place to test direct group play now, while the official system page shows that the finished game is also weaving other players into the battlefield through enemy and ally encounters.
Use the Alpha to test your group
The limited window is a useful chance to see whether the combat pace works for your usual co-op trio. Wo Long 2 Demo Multiplayer costs nothing to try and does not require PS Plus on PS5, so there is little reason to buy an edition solely to answer whether your group enjoys the system.
