Warframe Hotfix 44.1.2 arrived with the October 15 Tau content, then Hotfix 44.1.2 + 2.1 followed to fix crashes and severe performance problems in The Dark Refractory during the Prologue to Tau. The same update also adds the Tau Prologue Quest Series and launches Epoch Operation: Taubound.
There is a lot more in the build than the new Tau content. Icebind gets another set of progression fixes, Chroma’s Elemental Ward no longer gets stuck on Heat for Clients, Nova’s upward Wormhole placement is fixed, Secondary Enervate no longer procs endlessly through Zephyr’s Tornados, and Riven Splicing is quicker to reach from the Cycling screen.

Tau Prologue Dark Refractory crash fix
Warframe Hotfix 44.1.2 + 2.1 is aimed directly at players crashing, stuttering heavily or running into severe performance drops when entering The Dark Refractory during the Lua part of the Prologue to Tau.
If that section was blocking the quest, update Warframe before loading the Lua sequence again. Digital Extremes lists the Dark Refractory problem as the sole #2.1 fix, so that follow-up exists specifically for this crash and performance issue.
Tau Prologue Quest Series added
Warframe Hotfix 44.1.2 puts the Tau Prologue Quest Series into the Codex for players who have finished The Hex and The Old Peace.
The Prologue chapters stay in the Main Story permanently and can be replayed. Epoch Operation: Taubound is separate, with its own Moonflesh shop, Praghasa dialogue and a November 17 deadline.
Epoch Operation: Taubound is now live
Epoch Operation: Taubound also goes live with the hotfix. Finish Vor’s Prize and you can access Eris for the event, farm Moonflesh and trade with Praghasa even if your normal Star Chart route has not reached Eris.
Taubound closes on November 17 and has no rerun planned. Praghasa’s stock includes the Contegorus Armor Set, Vacis Amp Skin, Dhampyre Syandana, Tauforged Archon Shards, a Legendary Core, Arcanes and returning Operation gear.
Icebind fixes in Hotfix 44.1.2
Warframe Hotfix 44.1.2 gives The Icebind another round of mission-flow repairs. Players returning after Host Migration should now reach the treasure room correctly, with an active Side Objective cancelled when that is needed to let the squad extract.
The update also fixes certain Mars Excavation Cryobells failing to teleport players to the treasure room when Cryothermia was the final Side Objective, along with problems using the Take Cryobell interaction.
Chroma, Nova and Zephyr fixes
| Warframe or effect | Fixed problem |
|---|---|
| Ash | Bladestorm marks could remain after Transference without the attack playing |
| Chroma | Client Elemental Ward always used Heat regardless of emissive colour |
| Nova | Wormhole could spawn far away when aimed directly upward |
| Secondary Enervate + Zephyr | Could proc infinitely from Zephyr’s Tornados |
Ash, Chroma, Nova and the Secondary Enervate interaction with Zephyr all get targeted fixes in this build. If one of those bugs was affecting your setup, the updated behaviour is worth checking again after installing the hotfix.
Riven Splicing and Bronco Prime changes
Warframe Hotfix 44.1.2 also adds a shortcut to Riven Splicing directly from the Riven Cycling screen. The Lock Riven Trait tooltip now explains that locking a trait locks the number of positive and negative traits when the Riven is cycled.
The Bronco Prime Barrel now sells for 25 Ducats instead of 45 after its Void Relic rarity changed. Anyone clearing spare Prime parts for Ducats will see the lower value from this build onward.
Other fixes in Warframe Hotfix 44.1.2
Elsewhere, Digital Extremes fixes Uriel’s Infernum using the wrong explosion audio, a placeholder beside Slam Damage in Riven Splicing, uneven Citrine Prime shoulder attachments and a rare Inaros function-loss case tied to dying at the start of Sandstorm.
There are also script-error fixes for Mirage, Jade, Operator and Drifter loadouts, Teshin’s Cave configuration screens, Railjack menus, Surge Eximus behaviour and several other UI or ability interactions.
