Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance is the fourth and final mission of the Last Days of Lordaeron prologue. Garek Bandarion and Ilastar Songbreeze enter Stratholme to find and defeat Baron Rivendare. The main objective is called The Baron; both heroes must survive the mission.
To finish this chapter, activate both gate levers with Ilastar, advance Garek through the city, recruit extra soldiers, defeat Ras Frostwhisper and obtain the Crusader Square Key before the final approach to Rivendare. Harbor Salvage and the three Plague Mushrooms are optional objectives. You can complete those while exploring, but they’re not requirements for finishing The Baron. The following route follows recorded campaign quest updates.

Keep the F9 quest journal open if Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance seems stalled. The Baron remains the main target even when the map shows optional counters. A mushroom counter displaying two of three, for example, does not mean the quest to kill Rivendare has disappeared.
Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance: Open both Stratholme gates
At the start of Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance, Garek commands the street-level group while Ilastar heads along an upper route. Follow the raised side path with Ilastar. Activate the first lever, then proceed to the second lever to open the route for Garek’s group below. If the main gate is still closed, check whether you used both controls rather than trying to attack the gate. The opening quest dialogue establishes that the two heroes will approach by different routes.
Keep an eye on both hero portraits while they are separated. Ilastar can open the route, but Garek’s group may still need protecting below. After the gates are opened, regroup before fighting deeper into the city. The main quest requires both characters to survive, so losing one means you need to retry rather than simply pressing onward with the remaining troops.
Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance: Harbor Salvage and mushrooms
When you reach the harbour, look for the Human Transport Ship. Board it and steer through the floating barrels and crates to recover 100 supplies. The quest counter tracks your total, and finishing the 100/100 objective increases your army’s food cap. You do not collect all of these supplies by walking Garek along the shore. For Plague Mushrooms, find the three giant red mushrooms around the ruined city and use Ilastar’s Light’s Mercy on them. Check the journal’s 0/3 counter after each one. This side objective is useful to finish if you’re clearing the chapter, but the main quest remains The Baron.
If you’re stuck on Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance, the important thing is to distinguish those counters from the main quest. You can keep exploring to finish them, but the main progression leads toward Baron Rivendare. Check the journal to see whether the objective you’re following is marked Main or Optional before spending time retracing the city.
Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance: Ras Frostwhisper and Crusader Square
Don’t run straight from the opening gate to Rivendare. Strengthen the force as you go: the mission includes Survivor Camps, and you can pick up additional soldiers, including Mortar Teams, near Alonsus Chapel. Use Mortar Teams against enemy defensive structures and bring new recruits along rather than leaving them behind while Garek and Ilastar move through separate routes.
Further into Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance, you’ll face Ras Frostwhisper, who transforms into a Lich. Deal with that encounter and collect any recovery items you find before advancing. A later locked route requires the Crusader Square Key, so search the area’s enemies and quest progression for that key instead of repeatedly attacking a locked passage. Continue through the remaining Scourge defences, reunite the split force and make your final preparations before the chapel.
Where to find Baron Rivendare
After opening the way, advance with Garek and Ilastar through the city to the chapel approach. Recorded gameplay shows the guards continuing to search for civilians while the two heroes head inside to confront Rivendare. That’s the point to save if you want to repeat the boss fight without replaying the earlier route.
Let the confrontation dialogue finish and engage the enemies in the chapel arena. If either hero becomes badly injured, move him away from incoming damage and recover if you have the tools available. The recorded Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance clear ends when Rivendare falls and the game displays Main Quest Completed: The Baron.
How to deal with Rivendare’s difficult phases
Watch the floor for red danger zones while fighting Rivendare. Detailed specialist walkthroughs describe a phase in which he stops taking damage until you destroy nearby Obelisks. If his health stops moving and these objects are present, switch attacks to the Obelisks before returning to the Baron. This is a more useful response than continuing to attack an invulnerable target; encounter tuning may differ by patch or difficulty.
For Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance, arrive with enough health and mana rather than racing straight from the gate to the chapel. If the attempt fails, recheck your heroes’ equipment and position before restarting. There is no supported claim that collecting every harbour supply or mushroom is necessary for the boss to become available.
Why the Vengeance mission may not complete
If Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance won’t advance, open the F9 journal. Confirm both heroes are alive, that the route through the city is open, and that you’ve reached the chapel confrontation with Rivendare. If Garek’s route stays shut, retrace Ilastar’s upper path and check both gate levers. If progress stops later, check whether you collected the Crusader Square Key or still need to reunite your groups. An unfinished optional mushroom quest is separate from completing The Baron.

Warcraft 3 Forsaken Kingdom Vengeance closes the linear Last Days of Lordaeron story. The main Forsaken Kingdom campaign that follows has a more open RPG structure with additional equipment and talents.
