The VALORANT Corrode Map Changes arrived with Patch 13.08 on October 13, 2026. Riot shortened Defender routes around A and B, moved and rebuilt cover in Mid, and changed the A Site plant zone. Corrode also returned to the Competitive and Deathmatch map rotations alongside Bind, replacing Ascent and Split.
If you know Corrode’s old sightlines, the new layout can catch you out in ranked matches. The VALORANT Corrode Map Changes particularly affect rotations, Lower Mid angles and post-plant positions from A Link. Riot has released official before-and-after pictures, so here’s exactly what changed and how to adapt.
VALORANT Corrode Map Changes: A and B defender routes

Riot shortened the Defender approach to both sites. The VALORANT Corrode Map Changes mean teammates can rotate faster when an attack switches between A and B, and retaking a planted site takes less travel time. This doesn’t change agent movement speeds; the geometry of the paths is different.

If you’re defending, call the attack early so your team can use the quicker route. Instead of taking an unnecessary fight alone, delay the push with utility and wait for teammates where possible. Attackers should expect reinforcements sooner and keep a player watching the new approach while planting.
Corrode Lower Mid: half wall, boxes and new jump-up
The biggest VALORANT Corrode Map Changes in the middle of the map are the half wall and the Lower Mid cover. Riot changed the half wall to metal, moved it by one metre, shifted the boxes, added a jump-up and raised the Lower Mid wall.

- Half wall: now metal and relocated by one metre.
- Lower Mid boxes: moved to change approach and cover positions.
- Jump-up: a new elevation route creates another angle to clear.
- Lower Mid wall: raised, changing which sightlines are blocked.

These VALORANT Corrode Map Changes affect crosshair placement and positioning more than weapon balance. When walking through Lower Mid, clear the jump-up before looking at the old ground-level angle. If you rely on lineups or wall interactions, test them again in a custom game rather than assuming the old cover still behaves identically.
Corrode A Site plant zone and A Link post-plant changes
The VALORANT Corrode Map Changes also adjust where attackers can plant on A Site. Riot weakened familiar post-plant positions from A Link, making it less effective to rely on those angles after securing the Spike. This is separate from the faster Defender routes.
On attack, check the updated plant boundary and think about where teammates can safely hold once the Spike is down. Don’t automatically repeat your old A Link post-plant setup. For Defenders, the changed angles create more options during retakes, but A Link is still a position you should clear.
How to adapt to the new Corrode routes
To get comfortable with the VALORANT Corrode Map Changes, walk through the revised routes in a custom match before queuing for Competitive. Start with Lower Mid’s boxes and jump-up, then inspect both site approaches and the adjusted A plant zone.
- On defence, communicate rotations early and use the shorter routes for coordinated retakes.
- On attack, prepare for quicker defenders and keep utility available after the plant.
- In Lower Mid, check the new elevated position and rehearse new crosshair placements.
- On A Site, reconsider plant locations and A Link post-plant sightlines.
- For any old lineup, verify that moved cover and raised walls haven’t changed the throw.
Riot hasn’t provided one universal optimal route for every Agent, so the VALORANT Corrode Map Changes reward experimenting with your team’s utility and roles. The new geometry is confirmed, but your best route will depend on which side you’re playing and where opponents hold.
Which VALORANT maps rotate in and out with Patch 13.08?
The VALORANT Corrode Map Changes coincide with a map-pool refresh. Bind and Corrode enter Competitive, while Ascent and Split leave. Riot says the same rotation also affects Deathmatch, so you can practise aiming and routes on Corrode in that mode.
Deathmatch results don’t count towards the new VALORANT Map Rating system, though. Map Rating uses Competitive and Premier, with a separate grade for every map. Learning the revised Corrode geometry can help your results, but there is no separate rating reward for playing Deathmatch.
Are the old Corrode layouts still available?
The VALORANT Corrode Map Changes are part of the live 13.08 update rather than an optional alternate layout. The new positions apply when Corrode appears in supported queues. If an old screenshot doesn’t match your current game, use Riot’s patch images rather than assuming your client missed an update.
The main differences to remember are shorter Defender routes, a fresh Lower Mid jump-up and cover layout, plus weaker A Link post-plants. Those are the changes most likely to affect your next attack or retake.
