RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 launches on September 15, 2026, ending Steam Early Access and bringing Jagex’s survival RPG to PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The full release includes the brand-new Scorned Wilderness update, carries forward everything added during Early Access and introduces the final clash with Kuldra, the God-Eater, as the Kuldra Saga reaches its 1.0 conclusion.
What is new in RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0?

| 1.0 change | What it means |
|---|---|
| Full release | Leaves Early Access on September 15 |
| Scorned Wilderness | New 1.0 region/update and Kuldra finale |
| Platforms | PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 |
| Crossplay | Confirmed across supported platforms |
| Game Pass | Day-one Xbox Game Pass release |
| PlayStation Plus | Extra and Premium availability at launch |
| Rune armour | Iconic Rune gear arrives with Scorned Wilderness |
The biggest reason RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 is more than a console port is Scorned Wilderness. Jagex is using full release to finish the first major story arc, sending players toward the final clash with Kuldra rather than simply repackaging the Early Access build for new hardware.
Scorned Wilderness arrives with full release
Scorned Wilderness is the headline new region/update in RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0. Jagex has confirmed the final encounter with Kuldra, the God-Eater, through a Scorned Wilderness raid and has also named iconic Rune armour among the rewards/content coming with the September release.
Do not confuse that with Umbral Sands. Umbral Sands arrived earlier in Early Access and added the desert region, Infinity Robes, Red Dragonhide, Fight Caves, Nightmare Crucible and Agility. All of that is included in the 1.0 package, but those are not brand-new Scorned Wilderness features.
Every Early Access region carries into 1.0
RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 includes the content built up since the April 2025 Early Access launch. Fellhollow added a darker realm and farming systems, Dowdun Reach expanded the world with Black Knights, Blue Dragons and Mithril-tier progression, and Umbral Sands pushed the map further with its heat-focused desert.
That matters for console players because September 15 is not a thin launch version waiting years to catch up. New players enter after a long sequence of major updates, with the first Kuldra story arc playable from beginning to end.
Crossplay is confirmed
Jagex has confirmed crossplay for RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0. PC and console players can group up across supported platforms, which is especially important for a survival game built around solo play or parties of up to four.
The game supports solo adventuring as well, so crossplay is not a requirement. It simply means your friend group does not need to buy the same hardware to build, skill and hunt dragons together.
PC, PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 launch together
RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 arrives on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 15. That gives RuneScape its first major console expansion in the franchise’s 25-year history while keeping the PC version on the same 1.0 milestone.
Jagex has also announced later physical editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X, while Switch 2 gets a digital Standard Edition at launch.
Game Pass and PlayStation Plus make 1.0 easy to try
RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 is included with Xbox Game Pass from day one, while Jagex has also announced launch availability through PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. That puts the full release in front of a much larger audience than the Steam Early Access period alone.
Dragonwilds had already surpassed one million Early Access sales before full release, so September is an expansion of an established game rather than a rescue launch for an untested project.
What happens after 1.0?
Jagex has been explicit that RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 is not the end of development. The studio describes Dragonwilds as an ongoing project, with future skills, regions and adventures planned beyond the Kuldra Saga.
That is worth remembering if you are worried that finishing the Dragon Queen means the survival world is ‘done.’ Version 1.0 closes one story arc and establishes the multi-platform baseline for whatever comes next.
The official RuneScape: Dragonwilds console announcement confirms the September 15 date, crossplay and Scorned Wilderness. RuneScape Dragonwilds 1.0 is the moment the Early Access pieces become one full, cross-platform release.
