Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit Guide: Drone Racing, Tracks and Rewards

Wasteland Circuit Memento Weapon Skin collection reward in Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit is Siege’s first dedicated drone-racing event, replacing normal gunfights with a multi-race competition built around speed, shortcuts, item pickups and placement points. The limited-time mode went live on September 23, 2026 as part of Operation Split Fire.

You race a recon drone across three event tracks, collect Item Balloons to interfere with rivals and Boost Balloons to increase your own speed, then earn points based on where you finish. One bad race does not automatically end your run because the overall circuit winner is decided by the highest total score across the races.

How Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit works

The basic loop in Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit is simple: keep the drone moving, use the course efficiently and finish as high as possible. Ubisoft describes it as a multi-race mode, so consistency matters more than treating every heat as an isolated sprint.

  1. Enter the Wasteland Circuit event playlist.
  2. Race your drone through the current track and its obstacles.
  3. Collect Boost Balloons when extra speed will actually help.
  4. Use Item Balloons to disrupt opponents at useful moments.
  5. Finish the race to earn placement points.
  6. Repeat across the circuit and aim for the highest combined score.

This is very different from standard Siege. There is no site execute to plan and no Operator gunfight to win. Drone handling, route knowledge and timing are the important skills, which also means experienced players can still lose time if they treat every corner like ordinary reconnaissance movement.

How the three Wasteland Circuit tracks differ

Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit uses three custom racing tracks rather than one course repeated for the whole event. The practical advantage comes from learning each layout: where the track narrows, which turns punish too much speed, where shortcuts save meaningful time and where balloons appear often enough to plan around them.

Do not spend the first few races worrying only about first place. A clean lap that teaches you the course is more valuable than repeatedly hitting obstacles while chasing every pickup. Once the layout is familiar, you can start deciding which balloons are worth leaving the racing line for and which shortcuts are actually faster.

What Item Balloons and Boost Balloons do

There are two broad pickup types in Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit. Boost Balloons are the straightforward option: they help supercharge your drone and create speed. Item Balloons are the disruptive option and are designed to interfere with other racers.

The best time to use a boost is not automatically the moment you collect it. Extra speed is much easier to convert into a better position on a straight or a familiar section than immediately before a tight corner. The same logic applies to disruption items. Saving one until several drones are fighting through the same narrow section can be more useful than firing it at the first target you see.

How scoring and winning the circuit works

Ubisoft confirms that points are awarded after each race according to finishing position. The player with the highest total points at the end of the multi-race set wins the circuit. That makes recovery possible if one race goes badly.

For Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit, a reliable second or third place can be more valuable than alternating between a win and a disastrous finish. If you are already in a strong position late in a race, protecting those placement points is usually safer than taking a low-percentage shortcut you have not learned yet.

Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit rewards

The event has its own dieselpunk Wasteland Circuit Collection, weekly event challenges and free reward routes. Logging in during the event gives players a free Wasteland Circuit Collection Pack, while an event challenge provides another free cosmetic route. The separate OL’ CLANKER drone skin comes from Twitch rather than from race placement.

If rewards are your main reason for playing, use our Wasteland Circuit Challenges guide for the free in-game routes and the existing OL’ CLANKER Twitch Drop guide for the three-hour viewing reward. Players trying to finish the whole collection can also check the Wasteland Circuit Memento weapon skin guide.

When does Wasteland Circuit end?

Ubisoft describes Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit as a three-week event beginning September 23. Its current Twitch campaign runs through October 13, while an earlier season overview listed the event through October 12. Because that difference can come down to regional timing, use the countdown shown in the live Siege event menu as the final deadline for your account.

That matters most for challenges and collection progress. Do not assume an unfinished event objective will remain available after the playlist disappears, and claim any Twitch reward from Twitch Inventory once its requirement is complete.

Official Wasteland Circuit event details

Ubisoft’s official Operation Split Fire page confirms that the event is Siege’s first drone race, uses Item Balloons and Boost Balloons, awards points by finishing position and decides the circuit winner by total points. That is the core of Rainbow Six Siege Wasteland Circuit: learn the tracks, use pickups intelligently and avoid throwing away placement points for unnecessary risks.

The event is deliberately lighter than normal Siege, but the scoring still rewards consistency. A few races spent learning corners, balloon locations and shortcuts can make the rest of the three-week event much easier, especially once weekly challenges give you a reason to return.
