Pokémon UNITE shutdown is set for Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 GMT. That is midnight at the start of March 23 in the UK. Both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions are closing, and you won’t be able to log in or play matches once the servers go offline.

There are two deadlines worth acting on now. Aeos Gem sales and UNITE Club renewals stopped on October 27, while the offline Library opens on November 12. If you want to keep viewing part of your collection after March, its first data download needs to finish before the servers close.

The shutdown is at 00:00 UTC on March 23, which is also midnight GMT in the UK. In other words, Monday, March 22 is your last full day to play, use any remaining Gems and prepare your Library files. There won’t be a final evening of matches on March 23 in Britain.

The closure covers the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions, not just one platform. The separate Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 tournament still goes ahead before the shutdown. Regional online qualifiers start December 5, 2026, and the 32-team Tokyo finals are scheduled for March 20–21, 2027.

What happens to Aeos Gems and purchases after Pokémon UNITE shutdown?

You can no longer buy Aeos Gems, but you can spend Gems already in your account until the Pokémon UNITE shutdown. Any unused balance becomes unusable when service ends. The end-of-service notice makes no automatic refund promise for unspent Gems or previous purchases.

Your purchased Unite licences and Holowear won’t make the game playable once its servers close. The new Library can display certain collected items offline, provided you’ve completed its first download in advance. The company has not announced a transfer system for moving purchases into another Pokémon game.

The Grand Shop Sale offers discounts on selected items. On November 12, a separate Unite Coin Exchange will open, letting players earn a selection of older items through login bonuses and battle missions. Check what you can earn there before spending your last Gems.

Pokémon UNITE shutdown and UNITE Club membership

New UNITE Club subscriptions and automatic renewals stopped on October 27 at 05:00 GMT. Existing members keep their benefits until the end of the period they’ve already paid for. The shutdown announcement does not add extra membership time or promise automatic refunds.

Check your membership’s expiry date if you’re unsure how much time is left. If there’s a billing issue, contact Pokémon Support while the game is still online. The company has also said that Library support ends with the service.

Will Pokémon UNITE shutdown leave an offline mode?

The game won’t offer an offline version of ranked or standard matches. Instead, players who finish the Library download can view selected Pokémon, Holowear, Trainer fashion and records after closure. The Library also includes a Practice Area for looking at Pokémon moves and Holowear effects, not playing live battles.

This is not an offline version of the full competitive game. You can’t keep playing ranked matches or quick battles through the Library. Our Pokémon UNITE Library guide explains which records remain accessible and how the required download works.

How to prepare for the Pokémon UNITE shutdown

The Library becomes available on November 12 at 04:00 GMT. Once you’ve updated the game, the files will download when you play normally or first open the Library. Let that initial download finish on the device you plan to keep before the Pokémon UNITE shutdown at midnight GMT on March 23.

Newly collected items and records are added after the initial setup, but Library data generally cannot be transferred between devices. If you uninstall the app or lose those files after shutdown, you may not be able to recover them. Keep the game installed and avoid clearing its stored data.

There is still time to play with Pokémon you’ve recently unlocked. Our Jolteon and Flareon licence guide covers those Eevee evolutions, and our October balance patch guide covers changes you can try in your remaining matches.

Pokémon UNITE shutdown: what should you do first?

Before the Pokémon UNITE shutdown, spend any remaining Gems only on things you want, play the final events that matter to you and finish the Library download. If you’re involved in competitive play, the separate Aeos Crown finals are scheduled for March 20–21, just before the servers close.

Once the servers are gone, the Library is the only announced way to revisit selected items and records. Our Library download guide has the precise preparation steps and explains why you should keep the data on the same device.

Will Pokémon UNITE shutdown cancel the Aeos Crown tournament?

No. Even though the game is missing from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships, the separate Aeos Crown tournament goes ahead with qualifiers from December 2026 and Tokyo finals on March 20–21, 2027. The prize pool is US$1 million, and organisers have now opened registration for Europe and several other regions.

The Aeos Crown 2027 qualifier guide covers the regional signup deadlines and tournament format. It does not extend the game’s service after the announced March 23 closure.
