Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max unlocks on November 1, 2026, when Halloween Part 2 begins at 10am local time. From then, Mega Sableye can progress beyond Max Mega Level by using additional Sableye Mega Energy. It also receives Night Shade+, a new Charged Attack that’s available while Sableye is Mega Evolved.
Here’s the good news: you don’t need to reach Super Max just to try Night Shade+. The new move works at any Mega Level once Sableye becomes eligible, and grows stronger as you level it up. So if you’ve already invested in a favourite Sableye, there’s something new to enjoy straight away, even if the final upgrade takes longer.
Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max release date and requirements
Pokémon GO confirms the upgrade arrives with Halloween 2026 Part II, running from November 1 at 10am until November 5 at 8pm local time. Sableye can already Mega Evolve before the event. What’s new is its ability to climb to a fourth tier, Super Max, and use Night Shade+ while Mega Evolved.
You’ll need a Sableye with Mega Evolution unlocked and a supply of Sableye Mega Energy. If you’ve never Mega Evolved that Sableye, start with its ordinary Mega Evolution first. Progress towards Max belongs to the individual Pokémon you’re levelling, so pick the one you’d most like to use.
How to unlock Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max
Raise your chosen Sableye through the existing Mega Levels: Base, High and Max. Repeated Mega Evolutions build that progression over time. Once you’ve reached the third tier, Max, the new Super Max progression becomes available from November 1.
Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max has an extra requirement: you must spend Mega Energy to progress beyond Max. Simply Mega Evolving repeatedly is not enough to complete Super Max. The announcement does not state the required Sableye Mega Energy amount for the Super Max upgrade. That cost cannot be verified before the November 1 unlock; don’t spend based on a speculative number.

Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max: how to unlock Night Shade+
Night Shade+ is available from November 1 whenever an eligible Sableye is Mega Evolved. Pokémon GO’s general rules for additional Mega Charged Attacks say they work regardless of current Mega Level. That means you can use it at Base, High or Max without completing the Super Max grind first.
You don’t have to replace one of regular Sableye’s Charged Attacks with a TM. Night Shade+ is an additional attack associated with its Mega-Evolved form. When Mega Evolution ends, it isn’t a permanent new move on ordinary Sableye.
Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max: Night Shade+ power in raids and PvP
The confirmed starting values for Night Shade+ are 55 power in Trainer Battles and 160 power in Raid Battles. Its power increases with Mega Level, so you can use the move before Super Max and improve it as your Sableye progresses.
Pokémon GO hasn’t published the precise damage at every Mega Level in the Halloween announcement. Those starting figures shouldn’t be presented as the final Super Max damage. Check the move’s description for the exact values once it’s active.
Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max: can Night Shade+ be used in GO Battle League?
Pokémon GO says additional Mega Charged Attacks can be used in GO Battle League when the battle rules permit Mega Pokémon. The same rules currently exclude using these extra attacks against Pokémon defending Gyms. It’s worth checking the mode before spending resources for a specific kind of battle.
If you mostly use Sableye in regular PvP without Mega Evolution, don’t expect Night Shade+ to appear on that normal form. The new ability is tied to being Mega Evolved, and that remains the important condition.
Do you need a Mega Sableye raid for Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max?
Mega Raids are one way to collect Sableye Mega Energy when Mega Sableye is in the raid rotation. That’s separate from the Super Max upgrade, which becomes available from 1 November at 10am local time. You need to reach Max Mega Level first, then spend additional Sableye Mega Energy to progress to Super Max.
You still need Sableye Mega Energy, which can come from relevant Mega Raids when available. Once you’ve Mega Evolved that species before, Pokémon GO’s usual eligible buddy-walking methods can also help build up Energy. Use the October 28 Mega Raid rotation to obtain Sableye Mega Energy. Your Super Max eligibility begins November 1, and you can then spend extra Mega Energy on the new progression.

How to prepare for Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max before November 1
To prepare for Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max, check your favourite Sableye’s Mega Level and Energy balance. If it’s still at Base or High, working towards Max now will put you in a better position for November. There’s no need to wait for Halloween to start using the existing Mega Evolution progression.
You can also decide whether you want to invest in a regular or Shiny Sableye. Both can Mega Evolve. The upgrade is for the Mega species, not a special Halloween capture. Shiny Greavard’s debut is a separate event bonus, so catching one won’t change Sableye’s upgrade requirements.
Is Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max a permanent upgrade?
Mega Sableye’s Super Max eligibility starts during the event, but it isn’t described as a five-day-only feature. The Halloween window is the announced introduction date, not a deadline to level up one Sableye by November 5.
If you’re short of Mega Energy, prepare what you can and continue later. What matters is reaching Max first, then investing the additional Energy after the new progression is live.
Related Guides for Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max
The biggest thing to remember about Pokémon GO Mega Sableye Super Max is that the move and the upgrade aren’t locked behind exactly the same requirement. Mega Evolve an eligible Sableye from November 1 to use Night Shade+, then work through Max and spend additional Energy if you want to reach Super Max. You can enjoy the new attack without racing to finish every level in one day.
