Overwatch Mystery Madness is the Halloween Graveyard Games mode running from 6 October to 2 November 2026. It is a 5v5 best-of-three Control match with a fixed team composition of one Tank, two Damage and two Supports. Players begin in a random role and choose from three Heroes. As they gain levels, they build up Power choices that become available after a death or between rounds.
Unlike ordinary Mystery Heroes, dying can make you stronger here. Each death or round transition gives you Power choices based on the levels you’ve earned, and respawning also grants Ultimate Charge, Overhealth and movement speed outside combat. There’s a separate collection of Halloween challenges, weekly Event Pass rewards and community voting through Offerings.
Overwatch Mystery Madness dates and game format

Graveyard Games takes the random-Hero idea from Mystery Heroes and adds the build-changing Powers seen in Stadium and Junkenstein’s Lab. The Halloween mode is available until November 2, with a separate weekly Event Pass for rewards.
You’ll need to win two Control rounds to take the match. Although Blizzard labels the mode Open Queue, each five-player team is guaranteed one Tank, two Damage and two Supports. The random assignment happens within those role limits.
How do Heroes work in Overwatch Mystery Madness?
Your role is chosen at random when the match begins. You then see three Heroes from that role and can pick one, or hit the random button to let the game decide. Blizzard awards a small boost for taking the random option.
Check which of the three heroes suits you before picking. You’ll be building around that hero’s abilities once you start earning Powers, and new Support hero Doctrine is among the characters available in Graveyard Games.
How Overwatch Mystery Madness Powers work after death
You earn experience passively and through eliminations and assists. As that experience fills your level bar, you earn levels. When you die or move to the next round, the game presents two Power choices for each level gained since your last death. You choose which Powers to add to your build.
Overwatch Mystery Madness has three Power rarities. Common effects generally provide useful support, Epic options can shape your build, and Legendary Powers enable stronger combinations. Your available choices change throughout a match, so the best pick depends on the Hero and Powers you’ve already collected.
What bonuses do you get after death?
Death isn’t just a reset. Blizzard confirms the following bonuses on respawn: 10% Ultimate Charge, Overhealth equal to 40% of your maximum health and 30% increased movement speed when out of combat. These make the next push different from the life you just lost.
Some Powers can completely change how you approach a fight. Jump Scare turns you into a prop outside combat, letting you set up an ambush. Zomnic Summoner gives you a grenade that spawns a Zomnic when it explodes. Both are abilities you can draw during the match, not permanent shop purchases.
Overwatch Mystery Madness rewards and weekly Event Passes

Halloween challenges award event cosmetics and Offerings for the community vote. Each week also brings a new Event Pass with its own rewards and final milestone. The weekly event tracks are separate from the regular Season 5 Battle Pass.
If you’re trying to finish the rewards before November 2, open the current event challenge screen and work through the objectives shown there. Event Pass rewards belong to their weekly tracks; Offerings are earned through event challenges and spent on voting. Our Offerings guide explains how to take part.
How the Ashe, Moira and Winston vote changes Graveyard Games
Complete seasonal challenges to earn Offerings, then pledge them to Ashe, Moira or Winston. The Hero with the highest community total is added to the mode next. Blizzard says all three will eventually join by the final week, and the playable roster expands to 20 Heroes.
The vote decides the order in which the extra Heroes arrive. It doesn’t permanently eliminate two of the choices, and it isn’t an individual unlock button for the Hero you voted for. Each Offering you pledge also earns Battle Pass XP.
How to play better in Graveyard Games
Keep the objective in mind rather than chasing only eliminations. Your team still has to win Control rounds, and the fixed 1-2-2 composition means each role matters. A new Power may change how you approach a fight, but it won’t change your team’s need to hold the point.
After a death, look at the Powers offered for each level you’ve earned before choosing. A useful Epic Power can fit your Hero better than a Legendary that pulls you towards a completely different playstyle. Play what the match gives you rather than waiting for one perfect combination.
