Wuyang Mythic skin is one of the two major Mythic choices attached to A Grim Doctrine, but Dragon Shaoxia is built very differently from Lucio’s Treblemaker weapon. It transforms Wuyang himself, adds a celestial dragon familiar and expands the character through visual options that unlock over four levels. That makes the upgrade path more useful to compare than a simple question of whether the default skin looks good.
The important choice is how much of Dragon Shaoxia you actually want to unlock. Season 5 can provide Mythic Prisms through the Battle Pass, but those Prisms are not reserved for Wuyang and can be used on other eligible Mythic content. Understanding what each level adds makes it much easier to decide whether the complete skin deserves your currency or whether the base version is enough.

Wuyang Mythic skin Dragon Shaoxia has four confirmed levels. Level 1 unlocks the base Mythic form and brings a celestial dragon familiar into battle. Level 2 adds appearance customisation including flowing hairstyles, ethereal dragon horns and a mask. Level 3 introduces additional colour palettes that transform both Wuyang and the dragon, while Level 4 adds transformative visual effects that complete the Mythic presentation.
| Level | Confirmed Dragon Shaoxia upgrade |
|---|---|
| 1 | Base Mythic form with the celestial dragon familiar. |
| 2 | Additional hairstyles, ethereal dragon horns and a mask. |
| 3 | Extra colour palettes affecting Wuyang and the dragon familiar together. |
| 4 | Transformative VFX and the fullest version of the Dragon Shaoxia presentation. |
The dragon familiar is part of the base skin
The celestial companion is not held back for the final Wuyang Mythic skin level. Blizzard places the dragon familiar at Level 1, so the defining companion element is present from the first unlock. The dragon then changes alongside selected colours as later customisation becomes available.
That makes the base Wuyang Mythic skin more substantial for players who mainly care about the core fantasy. If the familiar and default Dragon Shaoxia look are enough for you, later levels should be judged on their extra appearance options rather than treated as necessary just to get the dragon.
Level 2 appearance options
Level 2 expands the Wuyang Mythic skin with flowing hairstyles, ethereal dragon horns and a mask. These are the first additions that let you push the Mythic away from one fixed character look and toward a more personalised version of the same martial fantasy.
Players who enjoy mixing cosmetic components are likely to get more value from this stage than someone who already prefers the base silhouette. The important point is that Level 2 changes the character presentation itself, while Level 3 focuses more strongly on colour and Level 4 delivers the highest-end effects.
Level 3 colour palettes
At Level 3, the Wuyang Mythic skin adds more palettes and applies the selected colours to both Wuyang and his dragon familiar. That shared transformation helps the companion feel like part of one coordinated Mythic design instead of a separate effect following the Hero around.
Colour selection can have a large impact on how often a cosmetic feels fresh over time. If you switch looks frequently, Level 3 may be the point where Dragon Shaoxia becomes meaningfully more flexible. If you always use one favourite palette, the practical value is more limited even though the additional options are visually substantial.
Level 4 transformative VFX
Level 4 is the full visual-effects stage of the Wuyang Mythic skin. Blizzard describes transformative VFX that bring the complete power of Dragon Shaoxia to life, building on the familiar, appearance options and palettes from the earlier levels. It is the final step for players who want the most elaborate version of the cosmetic.
Those effects remain cosmetic. They do not increase healing, damage or ability strength, so the decision is about how much you value the complete presentation. Previewing the Level 4 effects in the Mythic Shop is more useful than assuming the highest level is automatically the best purchase for every account.
Dragon Shaoxia versus Treblemaker
The Wuyang Mythic skin and Lucio’s Treblemaker are the two new Mythic headliners in Season 5. Dragon Shaoxia changes the Hero model, companion, colours and visual effects, while Treblemaker focuses on a first-person weapon with custom audio, elimination effects, reactive UI and a music-driven flourish.
If you play Wuyang far more than Lucio, the Wuyang Mythic skin is the straightforward personal-value choice. If Lucio is one of your mains, Treblemaker may be visible more often during actual play. The Season 5 Battle Pass offers up to 80 Mythic Prisms, but flexible currency means you are free to ignore both new options and use those Prisms elsewhere.
How to spend Mythic Prisms sensibly
Decide whether you want the base Wuyang Mythic skin, a mid-level customisation setup or the complete four-level package before you begin spending. That prevents a half-finished upgrade from consuming currency you intended to save for another Mythic. The Mythic Shop preview is the right place to compare unlocked and locked stages side by side.
Dragon Shaoxia works best as a purchase for players who actually enjoy Wuyang and will use the available customisation. The Wuyang Mythic skin has meaningful differences between its levels, so there is no need to force an all-or-nothing decision. Pick the stage whose companion, appearance options, colours and effects match what you will really equip.
