The Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Release Date was 22 October 2026. The game launched worldwide on Nintendo Switch 2, with the standalone version and a console bundle available at release.
It’s a new game, not an expansion or upgrade for the 2022 Nintendo Switch Sports. It brings twelve activities to Wuhu Island, plus offline rankings and sightseeing challenges. Here’s what the release date means for buying, downloading and playing it.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Release Date: confirmed details

Nintendo’s regional listings give the same October 22 date. That means the Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Release Date wasn’t staggered over several days by country. The standalone game costs $49.99 in the US and was listed at £41.99 on the UK eShop at launch.
Nine competitive sports have their own offline Island Crown rankings, while Skateboarding, Power Cruising and Prop Plane focus on exploring Wuhu Island. You also earn Spocco Points for character cosmetics simply by playing. The main game includes the complete twelve-activity roster.

What you get with the game at launch
There is also a Nintendo Switch 2 hardware bundle tied to the same date. The US bundle is priced at $529.99 and includes the console, a full-game download and a three-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual membership. Nintendo says that bundle represents a $27.98 saving compared with buying the components separately.
There was no separate paid early-access edition. For digital copies, Nintendo hasn’t stated one universal eShop unlock hour, so October 22 shouldn’t be read as a promise of midnight access in every time zone. The game’s listing on your console is the place to check availability.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Release Date: what buyers can get now
Nintendo’s listed download estimate is 16 GB. Leave some extra storage for updates and save data. Version 1.1.0 brought Casual Online Play, Pro League and Friend Lobby ahead of launch, so make sure the game is updated if you want to connect with friends.
Locally, supported sports allow up to four people on one Switch 2. Friend Lobby supports eight players across multiple consoles, with no more than two joining from each system. Online modes require a Nintendo Account and Nintendo Switch Online membership; solo Island Crown and local sports don’t.
Sports and activities included at launch
Nintendo announced the Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Release Date in September and kept it unchanged through the October launch. The main additions are seven activities that weren’t in the previous game, alongside the five returning sports.
Boxing, Table Tennis, Archery, Thumb Wrestling, Skateboarding, Power Cruising and Prop Plane are the seven additions. Tennis, Volleyball, Bowling, Basketball and Golf return. Jump Rope is available as a warm-up, but it’s not a thirteenth main sport.
For a new player, Bowling and Tennis are familiar starting points; Prop Plane is an easy way to see Wuhu Island from above. The all-sports guide explains the different modes.
Buying the game after release
The Nintendo Switch Sports Resort Release Date has passed, so you can choose between buying the standalone game or the Switch 2 bundle. If you already have the console, the standalone version gives you the same twelve sports without paying for new hardware.
The full activity roster covers the nine competitive sports and three Wuhu Island leisure activities: all sports. The Wuhu Island guide explains what you can explore after starting the game: Wuhu Island.
