Trainers. As we continue within Season 9: Mythical Wishes, we are in store for yet another event, and this time, Pokemon Go brings us the Team Go Rocket Takeover event.

With the leaders returning in full force, and a new series of challenges to complete, the event is set to be one that puts all your skills to the test – but hurry, you don’t have long.

Let’s take a look below at all the details.

Team Go Rocket Takeover – the details

From Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 12:00 am to Sunday, February 5, at 11:59 pm local time, and available to claim until the end of Season 9: Mythical Wishes, trainers will encounter a Team Go Rocket Takeover, in an attempt to capture Shadow Registeel in a new Special Research.

Upon completion, trainers will receive a Super Rocket Radar and begin the hunt to defeat Giovanni.

For the duration of the Team Go Rocket Takeover event, the leaders, Arlo, Cliff, and Sierra will be shking things up, and making it tougher than ever to defeat them.

Team Go Rocket Takeover – The Boss

Giovanni is back and in full force, as he prepares for battle.

For the month of February, Giovanni will bring the following Pokemon to battle:

A new Special Research story will be available during this event. Upon completion, trainers will receive a Super Rocket Radar and chase down Giovanni!

The Special Research will be available to claim until the end of Season 9: Mythical Wishes on March 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time.

Special Research – Shadowy Skirmishes

Shadowy Skirmishes (1/5)

  • Defeat 6 Team GO Rocket Grunts – Reward Helioptile
  • Make 3 Nice Curveball Throws in a row– Reward Helioptile
  • Earn 2 Candies exploring with your buddy – Reward Helioptile

Upon completion, trainers will be rewarded with 10 x Revives, 15 Pokeballs, 2000 XP

Shadowy Skirmishes (2/5)

  • Defeat 6 Team GO Rocket Grunts – Reward Hyper Potion ×10
  • Catch 4 Shadow Pokemon – Reward PokeBall ×10
  • Purify 2 Shadow Pokemon – Reward Pinap Berries x 10

Upon completion, trainers will be rewarded with 1 x Rocket Radar, 15 Ultraballs, 2000 XP

Shadowy Skirmishes (3/5)

  • Defeat the Team GO Rocket Leader Arlo – Reward 1500 XP
  • Defeat the Team GO Rocket Leader Cliff – Reward 1500 XP
  • Defeat the Team GO Rocket Leader Sierra – Reward 1500 XP

Upon completion, trainers will be rewarded with 1000 Stardust, 1 x Super Rocket Radar, 2500 XP

Shadowy Skirmishes (4/5)

  • Find the Team GO Rocket Boss – Reward Max Potion ×5
  • Battle the Team GO Rocket Boss – Reward Ultra Ball ×20
  • Defeat the Team GO Rocket Boss – Reward Max Revive x 5

Upon completion, trainers will be rewarded with 2 x Golden RazzBerries, 1 x Lucky Egg, 3000 XP

Shadowy Skirmishes (5/5)

  • Claim Reward! – 2500 XP
  • Claim Reward! – 2500 XP
  • Claim Reward! – 2500 XP

Upon completion, trainers will be rewarded with 2 x Silver Pinap Berries, 2500 Stardust, 5000 XP

The Eggs

We all love it when an egg hatches, especially during an event! And this time, Sandile, Pawniard, Vullaby, Pancham, and Salandit can all be hatched from a 12km egg available from the Leaders.

In addition, trainers can also hatch the following Pokemon from 12km eggs:

  • Larvitar
  • Absol
  • Skorupi
  • Scraggy
  • Deino
  • Skrelp

Team Go Rocket Takeover Event bonuses

The following event bonuses will be in play for the Team Go Rocket Takeover event:

  • Team GO Rocket will be appearing more frequently at PokeStops and in balloons, every 3 hours to be precise!
  • You can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration
