Marvel Snap Hellcow October 2026 Buff makes Hellcow a 3-Cost, 5-Power card instead of a 4-Cost, 7-Power one. Second Dinner changed the Discard character on October 29, 2026, but left her ability alone: Activate: Discard a card from your hand. The lower Cost is the benefit, while the two-point Power reduction keeps the change from being a straightforward statistical upgrade.

The lower Cost changes when Hellcow becomes useful. You can play her on turn three, then hold the discard until a later turn. The ability still doesn’t let you pick exactly which card leaves your hand.

Hellcow now fits into a three-Energy turn, leaving you more space to play other cards later. You’ll need to account for the two Power she loses at her location, though: the change is about flexibility, not a bigger body.

Marvel Snap Hellcow October 2026 Buff: Activate timing

The Marvel Snap Hellcow October 2026 Buff doesn’t change the way Activate works. Put Hellcow on the board first; you won’t discard anything when she’s revealed. From the following turn, press and hold her card to queue the discard.

Unlike On Reveal, Activate lets you choose a later turn for the effect. You can use it once per game, and triggering it costs no extra Energy. Play Hellcow on the final turn without a turn after it, however, and you won’t get to activate her.

Her card text simply says to discard a card. It doesn’t select the lowest-Cost or lowest-Power character, and it doesn’t give you a manual choice. The cards left in your hand when you activate are what matter.

Why does a cheaper Hellcow help Discard decks?

The Marvel Snap Hellcow October 2026 Buff opens up a cleaner turn-three play. Instead of spending four Energy just to place an Activate card, you can put Hellcow down earlier and save the discard for a point when your hand suits it.

Second Dinner explains the history: Hellcow’s Cost was raised when Hela was dominating. Since then, Discard decks have changed. The developer wanted Hellcow to become more useful without recreating an overpowered version that made Hela strategies too easy.

Think about how many cards you want to hold before she activates. If the hand still contains something you absolutely need later, you may want to delay the discard. The lower Cost buys time; it doesn’t eliminate that decision.

How Hellcow compares with The First Ghost Rider

The same update buffs The First Ghost Rider from 2/7 to 2/8. His On Reveal discards the lowest-Power character in your hand and removes that character’s Power from his own. Unlike Hellcow, his discard happens as an On Reveal rather than waiting for you to activate it.

First Ghost Rider gives you a predictable lowest-Power target, with a penalty based on what gets discarded. Hellcow gives you control over when to trigger the ability, not which card is selected. Both can suit Discard strategies, but they ask you to manage your hand differently.

Did the OTA change Hellcow’s targeting or discard count?

No. Hellcow still discards one card when activated, not two, and the October 29 OTA does not say that her target can be manually selected. If you remember an older Hellcow with a different discard effect, the current printed text is the one in Second Dinner’s October 29 notes.

The same update also fixes Zombie Black Cat and Proxima Midnight disappearing when discarded with Miniaturized Lab active. That bug fix is relevant to Discard strategies, but it doesn’t give Hellcow a second activation or rewrite her effect.

Is Hellcow better after the October 29 OTA?

Hellcow’s lower Cost makes her easier to deploy, and Second Dinner intends the move to give controlled Discard decks a modest boost. The trade-off is two less base Power, so her actual value depends on when you activate and what you discard.
