Joker Topper is a free Rocket League Persona 5 reward unlocked by earning 1,996 total points across online matches during the September 25 to October 12 event. The total is cumulative, so you do not need a single 1,996-point monster game. Normal online scoring adds up until the challenge completes.
Getting Joker Topper early is worth prioritising because it is also a requirement for another reward. The Phantom Thieves of Hearts Universal Decal asks for three online MVPs while Joker is equipped, so every session you delay the topper also delays the point at which those MVPs can start counting.

The Joker Topper challenge asks you to reach a combined 1,996 score in online matches. Play eligible online playlists, finish matches normally and let your scoreboard points accumulate. Once the counter reaches the target, claim the topper from the Persona 5 event panel before moving on to the MVP challenge.
- Play online matches during the Persona 5 LTE.
- Accumulate 1,996 total scoreboard points.
- Finish matches so progress can register cleanly.
- Claim Joker from the event panel.
- Equip it before attempting the Phantom Thieves MVP objective.
Fastest Way to Earn Points for Joker Topper
For this points objective, focus on complete play rather than only goals. Rocket League score can come from goals, assists, saves, shots and other recognised actions, so a balanced match often produces more steady progress than ball-chasing for one highlight play. You only need a cumulative total, which makes consistency more valuable than forcing risky touches.
Choose a mode you already play well. A playlist where you contribute defensively and offensively is usually better than switching to an unfamiliar mode solely because you think it produces higher scores. The 1,996 target is small enough to finish through normal event play.
Why You Should Get Joker Topper Before Chasing MVPs
The Joker Topper is not only cosmetic. The Phantom Thieves of Hearts Decal challenge requires three online MVP honors with Joker equipped. If you earn MVP before claiming and equipping the topper, that result does not meet the full condition.
As soon as the 1,996-point counter completes, claim the item and put it on the preset you plan to use for the rest of the event. If you rotate between presets, double-check that Joker stayed equipped before queueing.
Does Bullet Ball Count for Joker Topper?
The topper uses an online-match points requirement, while several other Persona challenges specifically name Bullet Ball. Check the live event panel to confirm which playlists the points objective accepts, then combine it with Persona 5 Bullet Ball challenges whenever the mode contributes to both.
The useful part of the Persona event is that multiple objectives can move in parallel. You can work toward points, wins and mode-specific actions in the same session instead of finishing every challenge as a separate grind.
If the points counter looks unchanged after a match, compare the event total only after the results screen has finished processing. Scoreboard points are not the same thing as goals, and a low-scoring defensive game can still contribute through saves, assists and shots. This is a cumulative target, so there is no benefit to abandoning a match because the first minute was quiet.
When Does Joker Topper Expire?
Joker Topper is tied to the Persona 5 event ending October 12. Because the topper unlocks the clean route to another reward, it should be one of your first Persona objectives rather than something left for the final weekend.
Psyonix lists Joker Topper among the free rewards in the official Season 24 announcement. For the rest of the live requirements, use our updated Persona 5 Event Guide alongside the challenge panel in your client.
