Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass?

Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass? Yes, Shape of Dreams joined Xbox Game Pass on September 17, 2026 alongside its surprise Xbox Series X|S release. Eligible members can download the full game rather than receiving a trial, and the Game Pass version includes the same current content as the paid Xbox release.

The timing is useful because the console launch happened simultaneously with The Starless Path 1.4 update. Anyone asking Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass can therefore jump straight into the anniversary content, including Cetus, Way of Stars progression, shared Identity Memories and the new ending route without buying a separate expansion.

Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass right now?

Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass right now? Yes. The Xbox Store lists Shape of Dreams as included with supported Game Pass subscriptions, while Xbox's launch announcement confirms that the game entered Game Pass on the same day it arrived on Xbox Series X|S.

For anyone arriving on console today, Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass is both an access question and a content question because the subscription build is current. The Game Pass listing covers the complete game. There is no separate Shape of Dreams starter edition or cut-down Game Pass build, and The Starless Path content is part of the live game rather than paid DLC. If you install through Game Pass, the version you receive already contains the September 17 update.

You can also check the official Shape of Dreams Steam page if you are comparing the Xbox subscription version with the original PC release. Steam remains a separate purchase, so owning Game Pass does not grant a Steam licence.

Which Game Pass tiers include Shape of Dreams?

Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass across every possible subscription? The Xbox Store currently shows the game as included with the relevant Game Pass catalogue options, including Ultimate and the supported PC and console catalogue tiers. Availability can differ by subscription and device, so the Microsoft Store page on the device you plan to use is the final check before downloading.

Xbox cloud play is also supported for eligible subscriptions. Players using a tier that includes cloud access can stream the game instead of installing it locally where the option is available. Xbox Play Anywhere support also means the Microsoft ecosystem covers Xbox Series X|S and compatible PC play under the same purchase or entitlement rules.

If you only have an entry-level subscription that does not include the full Game Pass catalogue, Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass may not translate into access on that particular account. The easiest check is to search Shape of Dreams in the Xbox app or Store while signed into the account that holds your subscription.

Do Game Pass players get The Starless Path?

Yes. Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass also includes a straightforward answer about the anniversary update: Game Pass players receive The Starless Path because it is an update to the base game. There is no additional purchase required to access the new 1.4 systems.

Cetus is part of that update and can be unlocked in game by digging through Piles of Snow. The Way of Stars expands Traveler progression with connected episodes, illustrations, limited Emotes and Souvenirs, while sufficiently advancing the new progression system opens the Starless Path ending route and its new final boss.

Six shared Common Identity Memories were also added, allowing a Traveler's normal Identity Memory to be replaced with one of the new universal options. Our Shape of Dreams Identity Memories Guide explains what changes when you use that system.

Is there a Game Pass bonus?

There is an Xbox console bonus available at launch. Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass players on Xbox can claim the Crimson Flash Lacerta costume, and Xbox explicitly includes Game Pass members among the players eligible for the cosmetic.

The costume is not a power upgrade and does not change the underlying progression. It is simply a console launch reward, so Game Pass players do not lose access to gameplay features by using the subscription version instead of buying Shape of Dreams outright.

For the wider console launch details, see our Shape of Dreams Xbox Release guide. If you are planning to play with someone outside Xbox, our Does Shape of Dreams Have Crossplay? page covers the supported multiplayer setup and the one important PC mod restriction.

Can you keep playing if Shape of Dreams leaves Game Pass?

Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass does not mean the game is permanently attached to the service. Catalogue games can leave Game Pass in the future. No removal date has been announced for Shape of Dreams at launch, so there is currently no reason to treat access as temporary beyond the normal rules of the service.

If the game eventually leaves the catalogue, a subscription alone would no longer provide access unless Microsoft announces another arrangement. Buying the game gives you a normal licence instead. Progress tied to your Xbox account should remain associated with that account even if your entitlement changes, although access to play still requires either ownership or a valid subscription entitlement.

For September 17, the important point is that Is Shape of Dreams on Game Pass has a clear yes answer, and the subscription version arrives with the full current game rather than an older console build.
