Hay Day Angus Fishing Helper keeps your fishing supplies stocked and can collect Mussels while you get on with the rest of your farm. Since the October 2026 update, Angus can be hired in the Fishing Area to take care of routine tackle. Special Lures are the exception: you must request those yourself.

The same update added small Mussel beaches around the lake. You can harvest them every six hours and have Angus open the shells for Mussel Meat, with an occasional Pearl for water decorations. There are a few useful details to know before putting him to work.

Where to find the Hay Day Angus Fishing Helper

Head to the Fishing Area and tap Angus. He’s now a hireable helper there, much like Rose and Ernest on the main farm. His jobs, though, are all about the Tackle Box and the new Mussel system.

You’ll need access to the fishing lake, which unlocks at Farm level 27. Visit Angus there to see the hire options offered on your farm. Unlike Rose and Ernest, whose jobs centre on animals and farm production, he works with fishing equipment.

If you fish regularly, the Hay Day Angus Fishing Helper saves you from keeping track of every ordinary restock. You can spend your time fishing or working on the farm while Angus looks after those supplies.

What does Angus restock automatically?

Angus automatically restocks the Tackle Box while hired, except for Special Lures. That’s the rule Supercell gives in its October notes. You don’t need to request each ordinary refill, but the specialist ones need your input.

The Tackle Box stores lures, nets, traps and closed Mussels. It’s separate from your Barn and Silo, so the Mussels you’ve just harvested won’t appear among the usual farm products. You’ll find the unopened shells with your fishing supplies.

You can still make your own lures at the Lure Workbench. Red Lures are free to produce, while Green, Blue, Purple and Gold Lures each take a matching Voucher. Angus helps manage the stock; he doesn’t change those basic lure types.

Hay Day Angus Fishing Helper Special Lures: how to request them

Tap Angus and request Special Lures directly. They won’t appear as part of his automatic restocking. If your regular tackle has been replenished but you’re planning to use a Special Lure, remember to ask him for it.

You can keep using the Lure Workbench if you prefer to make fishing supplies yourself. The Hay Day Angus Fishing Helper simply gives you another way to stay stocked when you’re busy elsewhere.

How to find and collect Mussels

The October update added small beach expansions around the Fishing Area. Open those beach plots to reach Mussels, then harvest the shells directly from them. They aren’t caught with a fishing rod.

Mussels can be collected every six hours. You don’t need to make a special trap, net or tool for them. That’s different from ducks and lobsters, which rely on fishing equipment and their own buildings.

After harvesting, closed Mussels go into the Tackle Box. Bring them to Angus to open rather than looking for Mussel Meat in your Barn immediately after collecting them.

How Angus opens Mussels and gives you Pearls

Take your closed Mussels to Angus. He opens them into Mussel Meat, and sometimes you’ll receive a Pearl as well. Pearls are an occasional bonus, not a reward from every shell.

You can spend Pearls on Water Decorations for the Fishing Area. That gives you another reason to return to the beaches whenever their six-hour harvesting cycle is up.

The Hay Day Angus Fishing Helper can harvest Mussels for you while hired. You can also collect them yourself. Either way, opening the shells with Angus is the step that produces Mussel Meat and a chance of Pearls.

Hay Day Angus Fishing Helper: Tackle Box storage

The Tackle Box can be expanded with Nails, Screws and Wood Panels, up to a maximum of 1,000 items. That storage is separate from the Barn and Silo, and it has to hold both your fishing equipment and any closed Mussels you’ve collected.

As you open more fishing spots and Mussel beaches, having extra Tackle Box space gives you room to keep the supplies you use. The upgrade materials are the same three types that Supercell lists for increasing the box’s capacity.

Hay Day Angus Fishing Helper FAQs

Does Angus harvest Mussels?

Yes. Once hired, Angus can harvest them from the new beach plots. You can also collect them yourself every six hours.

Does Angus open Mussels?

Yes. Give him closed Mussels to receive Mussel Meat and, sometimes, Pearls for Water Decorations.

Why are my Mussels in the Tackle Box?

Unopened Mussels are stored with your fishing supplies. Bring them to Angus to turn them into Mussel Meat.

Does Angus automatically make Special Lures?

No. The Hay Day Angus Fishing Helper automatically handles regular restocking, but Special Lures must be requested by tapping Angus.

Between ordinary tackle restocking and Mussel harvesting, Angus takes care of two jobs you would otherwise be doing yourself. Ask him directly for Special Lures, and bring your closed Mussels back to him whenever you want to open them.
