Guild Wars 2 Code of Creation is the final major update for Visions of Eternity, released on September 15, 2026. It closes the expansion story with six new chapters and adds Leyspring Hollows, the Rift Amplification mastery track, a new fractal, a raid encounter, a Convergence, new rewards and the legendary sword Wages of Stars.
This is a substantial content update rather than a small balance patch. ArenaNet is using the finale to bring the Castora storyline to its conclusion while also adding permanent endgame activities that will continue to receive harder difficulty modes after launch.

Guild Wars 2 Code of Creation story chapters
The story portion of Guild Wars 2 Code of Creation contains six chapters. They are Deeper Revelations, Under Pressure, Ripples in the Pond, The Burden of Seeing, So Be It and Everything That We Are. Together they form chapters 14 through 19 of the Visions of Eternity story and follow directly from The Only Way.
ArenaNet describes the finale as a confrontation with the consequences of Vloxx pursuing the power to alter the code of creation itself. The Commander and Isgarren must coordinate their allies while the Inquest, now under Kuda, remain a separate threat. The update moves the action deeper into Castora rather than revisiting one of the existing maps.
Leyspring Hollows is the new map
Guild Wars 2 Code of Creation adds Leyspring Hollows as the fourth open-world zone associated with Castora. ArenaNet describes it as a cavernous region built around the leyspring, with twisting routes, seer history and the Stewards of Galdra guarding secrets tied to the society that once lived there.
The map is also the setting for the final pursuit of Kuda and Vloxx. That makes it part of the story route as well as a permanent explorable zone. It sits alongside Shipwreck Strand, Starlit Weald and Eternity’s Garden in the wider Visions of Eternity map set.
Rift Amplification is the new mastery
The new mastery track is Rift Amplification. ArenaNet has tied it to Rift Hunting and adjusted the risk and reward of gathering essence. The update asks players to build to maximum essence stacks before they can be cleared, then rewards that risk with a powerful profession-based ability that can be used in combat.
That is a more specific purpose than simply adding another traversal tool. Rift Amplification is designed around the rift activity loop, so it belongs to the combat and event side of the expansion rather than replacing the movement-focused masteries already introduced in Visions of Eternity.
New fractal, raid and Convergence
Three pieces of group content arrive with Guild Wars 2 Code of Creation. Solitary Throne is a new Fractal of the Mists for groups of up to five players. ArenaNet says it takes place in a mysterious celestial environment and culminates in a fight against the Eternal Tyrant.
Nexus of Eternity appears in two forms. The Convergence is the public-instance version, while the raid encounter is built for a ten-player squad. Normal versions are available with the September 15 update. Challenge Modes for Solitary Throne, the Nexus of Eternity raid and the Nexus of Eternity Convergence are scheduled for September 29. A Legendary Mode for the raid follows on October 13.
New weapons, armor and legendary sword
The reward side of Guild Wars 2 Code of Creation includes the Shining Ward weapon set, Tenebral Ward armor and Wages of Stars, a new level 80 legendary sword. Wages of Stars has a celestial seer theme, selectable stats and the normal legendary equipment benefits expected from its rarity.
The sword has its own visual effects rather than being a simple reskin. Its documented effects include starry footfalls, a purple stellar field around the wielder’s hand, constellation effects when drawn and a special finisher based around an astral projection of the All. ArenaNet has also shown skill-specific visual changes for the weapon.
Code of Creation Twitch Drops
A separate Twitch Drops campaign runs alongside the release. Watching eligible Guild Wars 2 streams can award an Item Booster after one hour, a Mini Piglet after two hours, How to Dance, Volume 1 after four hours and the Arcane Occultist’s Hat after six hours. The campaign runs from September 15 at 9 a.m. Pacific until September 20 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific.
Taken together, Guild Wars 2 Code of Creation is both the narrative ending of Visions of Eternity and the expansion’s final major content drop. The important distinction is that the September 15 release is not the end of its difficulty rollout, because the Challenge and Legendary modes arrive on the later dates above.
