GTA 5 invincibility cheat code is one of the rare evergreen searches that has survived multiple console generations because the underlying Story Mode sandbox has not disappeared. Players still use the cheat to experiment with Los Santos, survive chaotic wanted-level runs and test vehicles or weapons without treating every death as a reset.
The old version of this guide already contained the classic combinations, but it treated the answer as a thin list and blurred the line between Story Mode fun and GTA Online. A better version keeps the code easy to find after the first heading while making its duration, platform methods, progression implications and online restriction impossible to miss.
GTA 5 Invincibility Cheat Code for Every Platform

The GTA 5 invincibility cheat code gives your Story Mode character temporary protection for five minutes. On PC, open the cheat console and enter PAINKILLER. You can also use the in-game phone and dial 1-999-724-654-5537, which spells 1-999-PAINKILLER.
On PlayStation, enter Right, X, Right, Left, Right, R1, Right, Left, X, Triangle. On Xbox, enter Right, A, Right, Left, Right, RB, Right, Left, A, Y. Use the sequence during normal Story Mode play rather than from a pause menu.
How Long Invincibility Lasts
The GTA 5 invincibility cheat code lasts for five minutes. There is no permanent built-in version of the standard cheat, so you need to enter it again when the protection expires if you want another five-minute window.
That timer is the most important limitation to remember during long chases or high-altitude experiments. The cheat is excellent for a burst of chaos, but it is not a toggle you switch on once for an entire session. If you are using the phone method, keeping the number handy is usually easier than memorising a controller sequence.
What the Cheat Protects You From
While active, the GTA 5 invincibility cheat code prevents the normal health loss you would expect from gunfire, explosions, melee damage, falls and vehicle crashes. That makes it useful for experimenting with Story Mode rather than for completing a competitive objective.
Scripted mission behaviour can still create situations where a cheat does not behave like a universal developer debug mode. Treat it as the game’s temporary Story Mode invulnerability cheat, not as a promise that every script, boundary or fail condition in GTA V has been disabled.
Can You Use It in GTA Online?
No. The GTA 5 invincibility cheat code is a Story Mode cheat and is not available as a legitimate GTA Online command. Rockstar actively targets cheating, mods and exploits that tamper with GTA Online, so trying to reproduce Story Mode god mode through third-party tools is a completely different thing from entering the built-in single-player code.
If your real goal is simply avoiding other players while travelling online, use GTA Online Passive Mode or choose a suitable private session instead. Those are intended GTA Online systems and will not put your account in the same territory as cheat software or exploits.
Achievements, Trophies and Saving
Using the GTA 5 invincibility cheat code affects normal achievement and trophy progression for the active play session. If you are working on a clean completion run, save before experimenting and return to an un-cheated state when you want normal progress tracking again.
The safest habit is to treat cheats as a separate sandbox session. GTA V gives you plenty of reasons to create mayhem without worrying about a perfect save file, but that does not mean you should mix a cheat-heavy session into the exact point where you are trying to earn a difficult Story Mode achievement. Keep the GTA 5 invincibility cheat code for deliberate sandbox sessions rather than using it on a save where trophies or achievements are the immediate goal.
PC, Console and Phone Method: Which Is Best?
On PC, PAINKILLER is the quickest GTA 5 invincibility cheat code if you are comfortable using the console. The phone number is convenient because it works as a memorable cross-platform reference on versions that support phone cheats. Controller combinations are useful when you want to enter the code without opening text input.
If you are also getting reacquainted with PC controls, our guide to swap weapons on PC explains the weapon wheel, mouse switching and saved default weapon categories. That is a better way to improve normal combat control once you are finished experimenting with invincibility. The GTA 5 invincibility cheat code is fun precisely because it is a temporary Story Mode toy, while good controls are what carry back into normal missions.
Grand Theft Auto V is still actively sold alongside GTA Online on current platforms, while attention is shifting toward GTA 6 and its November 2026 launch. That makes this old cheat search worth maintaining: the game has aged, but new players continue to arrive in Los Santos and look for the same classic sandbox tools. The GTA 5 invincibility cheat code therefore still earns its place as an evergreen guide even while the franchise moves toward Vice City.
