Genshin Impact: Where are the characters in the open world during Lantern Rite 2023

Genshin Impact has an ever-growing roster of characters, and festivals like Lantern Rite 2023 feature many of them, but where are the characters from Liyue during Lantern rite this year?

As with Lantern Rite 2022 before it, a number of the Liyue character cast of Genshin Impact can be found scattered across the region in various locations, if you’re willing to go searching for them. There isn’t much to do with them outside of a single conversation each, but for players looking for more character interaction in Genshin Impact, this is a rare chance to be seized.

Some characters do also seem to be missing from the post Lantern Rite chats this year, so there’s a full list of those with known locations for 2023 below.

Where to find Genshin Impact characters during Lantern Rite 2023

As with previous Lantern Rites, some characters may be not present.

The characters with known locations in Lantern Rite 2023 are:

• Zhongli
• Guoba
• Xiangling
• Hu Tao
• Chongyun
• Xingqiu
• Yun Jin
• Xinyan
• Xiao
• Qiqi
• Baizhu
• Yaoyao
• Yanfei
• Madame Ping
• Venti
• Kazuha
• Beidou
• Ningguang

It seems that Keqing is missing from the event, as well as the entire Cloud Retainer family, including the illuminated bird herself, as well as Shenhe and Ganyu.

Where are Zhongli and Guoba

Zhongli is likely to be the character most players will stumble into during this Lantern Rite, as he’s very close to a commonly used teleport beacon in southern Liyue harbor. He’s in relatively plain sight through the nearby door and window of Wanmin restaurant – if you walk down to the Liyue adventurers guild, you’ll likely spot him then.

As explained by Zhongli, he’s here on orders from Hu Tao to give Xiangling a break. Guoba is also found here, though as usual offers little in the way of conversation.

Where are Xiangling, Hu Tao, Chongyun and Xingqiu

Meanwhile, the endlessly-creative chef of Wanmin restaurant, Xiangling is using the break given to her by the funeral parlour director Hu Tao. Both of them can be found down on the eastern Liyue dock front, alongside Chongyun and Xingqiu – an entire team worth of characters in one place.

Which is just as well, because aside from Xiangling, Hu tao, Chongyun and Xingqiu, there are just about no other characters in this part of town.

Where are Yun Jin and Xinyan

Yun Jin and Xinyan can be found next to the main event stage from the Lantern Rite festival this year. Look for the stage in the central dock area at the bottom of the stairs, and you’ll find them quite quickly.

Where is Xiao during Lantern Rite 2023

If you had a single guess of where Xiao would be found, you’d likely get it correct. Xiao is on the top floor of the Wangshu Inn, his usual haunt.

For once you won’t need to call him, or otherwise hunt him down, as he’s actually located in the middle of the platform this year, waiting alone – seemingly trying to decide what to do with all his Almond Tofu gifts.

Where are Qiqi and Baizhu

Everyones favourite Zombie Qiqi, and the first Dendro character that players were aware of, Baizhu, can be found overlooking the main stage in one of the decorative walkways. Look above the floating lanterns from where you meet Yun Jin and Xinyan, and you might be able to see Baizhu.

Qiqi is probably a bit too short to stand out, though.

Where are Yaoyao, Yanfei and Madame Ping

The newly released Yaoyao, as well as Yanfei and Madame Ping can be found over in Qingce village square. They’re all relatively close together, so if you can find any of this trio you should be able to spot the rest easily.

It’s worth heading over to Yaoyao in particular for a chance to get to know one of the newest characters added to the game, doubly so given she features more dialogue than most everyone else found in the after-event.

Where are Venti and Kazuha

Considering this is a Liyue-themed event, the presence of an Inazuman and Mondstadt character together is a bit unusual, but Kazuha does have a tendency to turn up just about anywhere, and Venti largely does whatever the hell he feels like at the time.

As such, you can find him visiting the Crux flagship, trying to convince Beidou through Kazuha that he should be allowed alcohol. Same ol’ Venti.

Where are Beidou and Ningguang

In a decision that will surprise absolutely no one familiar with Genshin Impact Twitter, Beidou and Ningguang can be found hanging out together – if you’re not, let’s just say that Beidou is involved in more ships than just those in The Crux.

The pair is located in the uppermost section of Liyue. The fastest way here will likely to be teleport to the nearby teleport waypoint on the mountain adjacent to Mt. Tianheng, and then glide back down – Beidou and Ningguang can be found in the central area here, so make sure not to overshoot while flying down.

It’s unfortunate that some of the Liyue cast seem to be missing from the post-Lantern Rite 2023 chat content, but considering the ever-increasing scope of Genshin Impact and its character list, it’s not entirely surprising that some are getting nudged out of appearing in events.

Though I still think skipping out on any chance to feature the fan-favourite Illuminated bird Cloud Retainer is certainly an odd choice. At least they included Vlad and Nadia again.
