Genshin Impact: The Art of War achievement guide

getting the art of war achievement in genshin impact spiral abyss 1 1

The Art of War achievement is part of the Elemental Specialist Series 1 achievement set and requires you to quickly defeat enemies using the overloaded reaction.

While quickly defeating enemies with overloaded isn’t hard on its own, The Art of War achievement and other similar elemental reaction achievements in Genshin Impact are very picky about what counts and doesn’t count – for example, sometimes defeating an electro-infused opponent with a Pyro catalyst does not give credit for Overloaded, despite causing the reaction.

While it’s not entirely clear why some methods that should work for The Art of War simply do not do so, there are others that work and are quite reliable for unlocking this particular Elemental Specialist achievement.

How to easily get The Art of War Achievement in Genshin Impact

As The Art of War requires the Overloaded reaction, you need both Pyro and Electro to cause it. The easiest way to achieve this is through using a Pyro character against an already electro-infused enemy, such as an Electro Whopperflower or Electro slime.

There are certainly ways you could manage this in the overworld while just playing the game generally, particularly if your Genshin Impact team features Electro and Pyro characters most of the time anyway – but for those players who haven’t already accidentally got some progress on this achievement, there is an easy way to do it from start to finish.

Taking Xiangling, a character you can get for free on any account above Adventure rank 20, to Spiral Abyss floor 1-1 and using her elemental burst to combine with the electro infusion already present on the Electro Slimes, will make short work of this achievement by repeatedly hitting overloaded reactions upon contact with any of the Slimes.

Other Pyro characters can also achieve this, though tend to be less reliable. The only other Pyro character all players have access to is Amber as well, who is somewhat awkward to manage this achievement with.

For players who have already invested in Xiangling and are concerned that somehow higher damage might prevent you from getting the Art of War achievement, the video shown above was taken with a level 90 Xiangling who had some talent levels and constellations already.

All you need to do to be safe with this method is unequip your weapons and artifacts, and the reactions triggered by your elemental burst should be what land each killing blow, making the achievement a simple matter of running around with Pyronado and hitting the slimes with it.

You may even be able to get the desired results and achievement with your gear still equipped, but if it doesn’t work at first give it a try without, the elemental reaction achievements in Genshin Impact are quite finicky, and a lot of things seem to throw them off.
