Genshin Impact: How to use Nahida’s Elemental Skill to gather plants

The newly released Dendro Archon has a few interesting additions to her abilities. Such as the player being able to gather plants using Nahida’s Elemental Skill.

That isn’t the only weird thing she has, of course. Nahida is also capable of reading the minds of NPCs throughout Genshin Impact, with some exceptions.

She’s definitely a bit odd compared to some of the rest of the Genshin Impact playable character cast in terms of what she can pull off. That said, she’s shaping up to be an incredibly useful character both in and outside of the battlefield. The added utility and novelty value she has is only elevating her further in the eyes of the playerbase.

How to use Nahida’s Elemental Skill to gather plants

This might sound like a trick with the Nahida Elemental Skill. In actuality, it is simply part of the ability. Nahida is capable of gathering plants, for example, local specialities and food items, as well as some of the small wandering animals such as frogs. Don’t try it on a Fox.

Nahida is capable of gathering these items with both forms of her elemental skill. If you want to gather plants that happen to be nearby or grab a frog before it can hop away, simply tap E on PC, or otherwise activate your elemental skill will cause the usual Dendro sweep effect. This will also grab any valid items in range and automatically collect them for you.

Do note this also works in combat, so you can use this to grab things mid-fight while still dealing some damage.

The other method of gathering using the Nahida elemental skill relies on the hold version of the ability. A good example for a use of this is actually one of Nahida’s ascension materials, the Kalpalata Lotus. They tend to be found near the top of rockfaces, so can be awkward to grab in some scenarios.

However, simply by holding Nahida’s elemental skill and then sweeping the camera over them, you can grab them from a distance when you release the skill. No further input is required, simply move the ability targeting over each item you want to pick up, which will then be highlighted, and stop channelling the ability to collect them.

There is a range limit to this, so you can’t just grab everything you can see – and you do need to be able to see what you want to pick up as well, the ability does rely on line of sight for this to work.

Still, it can be very useful to speed up gathering items that might require you to climb a cliff face, like Liyue’s Violetgrass, or perhaps jump off one to reach them. It’s also worth being aware that Nahida and her elemental skill is incapable of gathering insects such as Onikabuto, Scarabs and even Crystalflies, nor can she break open and harvest rocks for ore with her skill – you’ll still need Zhongli for that one.
