While all characters in Genshin Impact have a few unique aspects, Nahida’s elemental skill allowing her to mind read characters takes it up a level.

Many characters have passive effect boosts that are practical, such as reducing the Stamina cost of Swimming and Sprinting, revealing nearby local specialities, or reducing crafting costs.

Nahida is having a bit of a Genshin Impact first though, as her elemental skill comes with the ability to mind read characters, or NPC’s scattered all over the map. While each character seemingly only has a single thought, considering the sheer scale of the game, that means writing an extra thought line of dialogue for hundreds of characters, accessible only to those with Nahida. Article includes brief image spoilers for Genshin Impact Version 3.2.

Despite Lesser Lord Kusanali, or Nahida as her playable version is known, having an aversion to using her powers to read the minds of others during her personal quest, nothing stops a player completely ignoring her predispostion and using the power on absolutely anyone.

To mind read a character in Genshin Impact, all you have to do is swap to Nahida, and then use the hold version of your Elemental Skill, All Schemes to Know (E on PC) on them.

Doing so causes you to hear one of their thoughts, as if it were spoken aloud. These lines will also be displayed in bracketed subtitles to indicate that they are not actually spoken aloud. It would seem so far that most NPC’s have only a single thought for Nahida to read.

On the rare occasion that a playable character appears as an NPC during an event or quest, Nahida can target them in a similar way. Unfortunately, playable characters do not seem to have any voiced thought dialogue for Nahida to find at the moment – if you can pull for them in the Gacha system, their head becomes empty it seems.

Although, even more comedic than that is Nahida herself. While she appears during the Archon Quest of Genshin Impact version 3.2, she is available briefly as a talkable NPC. That means you can make an attempt to read the mind of the God of Wisdom… using the God of Wisdom.

Despite being the same character, Nahida won’t let herself in on her own thoughts. What a shame that we can’t check on whatever is rattling around inside the head of the God of Wisdom.

Attempting to mind reading playable characters automatically failing might be something we can expect to change in future events where Nahida’s skill can be accounted for during development for those events. Although, that would introduce an element of scope creep for all the voice acting requirements to future events, as every featured character would need at least one additional voiced line for all events going forward.

It’s unclear what you can expect from this feature in the future because of it, but for now its a fun little extra to an already very powerful addition to the Genshin Impact playable characters roster.
