Genshin Impact: Where to find Scarab
While Sumeru is the nation of Dendro in Genshin Impact and is home to a variety of botanical species, on the western part of it lies the Great Red Sand, a mysterious vast desert. Here, the tenacious beetle called the Scarab can be found.
This beetle is considered a Local Specialty in Sumeru, meaning it can only be found in the region. With the strange golden pattern on its back, it is said that the beetle is somehow related to the ancient ruins found in the vast desert. Unlike the sedentary beetle from Inazuma called the Onikabuto, the Scarab walks around a small area.
A tenacious beetle that finds repose within the vast ocean of desert sand. The golden pattern on such beetles’ shells hints at some deep relationship between them and the ancient ruins that dot the desert.

Scarab locations in Genshin Impact
As mentioned previously, the Scarab can only be found in the Great Red Sand. As of writing, no shops sell this local specialty and no known NPC will give a couple of them for free. Therefore, if you’re in need of some, especially for ascending and building the new 5-star Electro character Cyno, your only option is to look for them yourself.

Uses of Scarab beetles in Genshin Impact
As of writing, this Local Specialty from Sumeru is not known to be used for any crafting or cooking recipes. Its only purpose at the moment is as an ascension material for Cyno.
