The fantasy world of Teyvat in Genshin Impact is home to seven nations ruled by different gods. With only three nations available in the game’s current version, there’s still a long way to go before we see how its story ends.
As we travel around Teyvat in search of our sibling, we get to meet characters each with a story to tell. And just before we move to Sumeru, we’ll soon get to meet the final currently known upcoming playable character from the islands of Inazuma.
His name is Shikanoin Heizou, recently announced by the official twitter account of Genshin Impact as “a young detective from the Tenryou Commission. Free-spirited and unruly, but cheerful and lively.”
While we still don’t have much official information about his gameplay mechanics like his weapon, talents, and even his rarity, the name isn’t something we have just heard. In fact, Shikanoin Heizou is a name we have already heard in Genshin Impact, and his addition to the roster of playable characters has been speculated for months.
What other characters have to say about Shikanoin Heizou in Genshin Impact
Some characters’ voice lines give us an idea about Shikanoin Heizou, and… it looks like his reputation doesn’t sound to be that great.
“Mr. Shikanoin belongs to the Tenryou Commission, just like Miss Kujou. He is very…principled, sometimes even more determinedly so than Miss Kujou. The only thing is, when it comes to the question of which matters should be governed by his principles, I believe only Mr. Shikanoin himself knows the answer.”Kamisato Ayaka
“You mean that sneaky detective that never seems to actually be working on a case? Well, no one from the Shogunate can be fully trusted, so I’ll be keeping my eyes and ears on him! On a separate note, he does have some talent for investigation. But how can we know that this isn’t all part of some nefarious scheme? Hmm. Only time will tell, I suppose.”Gorou
“Initially, I was astonished to see anyone coming to Watatsumi Island wearing a Tenryou Commission uniform. A Tenryou Commission samurai would never be that brazen, and a Tenryou Commission spy would never be that conspicuous. Shortly after, I discovered that he was a self-proclaimed “detective” by the name of Shikanoin, and that he took no interest in military, government, or commercial affairs. Instead, he seemed to have arrived for a bit of sightseeing. As such, I set a few eyes on him, but refrained from taking any action to remove him from the island. Be sure to talk to him if the chance ever presents itself.”Sangonomiya Kokomi
“Shikanoin and I may be colleagues, but I have few positive words to say about him. He seems preoccupied with his personal schemes while official duties take second place. The only reason I have not sought to bring him into line so far is that his investigations deliver results…*sigh* He is such a headache.”Kujou Sara
“Ho, that guy is a detective for the Tenryou Commission. He seems to have his own way of doing things — not the easiest person to get along with. Also… Any situation that involves a detective is pro.”Thoma
Shikanoin Heizou in a nutshell
From Genshin Impact’s tweet and those testimonies, we have gathered that Shikanoin Heizou is a detective who may not be well-liked by many but does deliver satisfactory results.
Although we are not sure whether he’s oblivious to the fact that he was in danger during his infamous trip to Watatsumi Island, we can say that he just continues to be who he is—cheerful and lively—despite anything. His actions give us the impression that he is unbothered by whatever anyone says.
While Shikanoin Heizou might make you remember someone annoying you know in real life, he sounds like a fun character to have in Genshin Impact, and I’ll definitely try to get him once his banner becomes available. What about you?
