Genshin Impact: The most used characters in Windtrace

Here, we’ll show the most used characters in the current Windtrace event. Windtrace, the hide-and-seek minigame, much in the likes of Prop Hunt, made its debut in the 1.5 version. Now, it came back during 2.4, when we have a much bigger character roster and new maps to hide.

All skills are disabled in the event, so character selection comes down to personal preference or to other advantages they may offer, such as size and speed. In the original event, Mona was considered broken both as a hunter and a rebel, since her alternate sprint still worked. But this time, her and Ayaka’s extra passives are not available.

Reddit user Ellie_0_o made some notes on how many times they saw each character during 400 games, and here are the results. Some may seem obvious, but there are surely some curious numbers here. Be aware that this isn’t a tier list, being simply some curious facts.

Xiao comes out on the top, being featured in the current event banner and, of course, also being one of the most popular Genshin characters. Also, he’s relatively small and his color scheme helps him blend in with nature, making him harder to find.

Sayu is also a perfect fit for second place. Small characters are great for hiding, and guess what? She loves hiding. It’s a win-win situation. Hu Tao comes third, and Qiqi is right after her. Most of the first places are the small girl characters (except Klee, probably because her colors make her easy to find) and limited 5-star characters.

What does that mean? Absolutely nothing! Except for the fact that most people choose to go with either small girls for hiding or with their limited, rare characters. If Ganyu’s banner was already available, we would see her in a much higher spot.

And also, this data was collected by one person alone. Statistics should be variable through servers and also by pure chance. For example, I saw Aloy more than I saw Kokomi in around 30 to 40 games.

But most of the top characters are actually good choices for the event. Small girls are great for hiding, and taller characters run faster. Kaeya in particular is a great choice since his passive also reduces his stamina cost, and it’s not disabled on the event.

But in the end, the event has a single objective: having fun. Some characters do have some advantages, but choosing the one you’ll have the most fun with when running from hunters or catching some pesky rebels always comes first.
