Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks: Controls, Timing and Combat Uses

Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks are a new 1.0 combat option that lets you charge a piercing wand strike and interrupt some enemy attacks. You can perform them without spending a skill point, which makes the move worth learning even on an early magic character.

Using Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks effectively takes timing, especially when a melee enemy is closing in. The October 2026 release also added aerial and evasion wand skills, plus Blast and Cast for switching from wand criticals to stronger staff magic.

Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks: How to use a heavy wand attack

Equip a wand and use the charged heavy attack rather than repeatedly tapping for basic shots. Check the mapped action in Settings > Controls, since the precise input can vary between keyboard and controller configurations. Release the charge to strike when the attack animation is ready. Check your bindings under Settings and Controls if holding the attack does not trigger it. Controller button layouts vary and can be remapped, so follow the heavy-attack action displayed in your own version instead of assuming a fixed button across all devices. Heavy strikes can pierce several enemies and interrupt some weaker enemy attacks. They are part of the 1.0 base wand kit and do not need a skill unlock.

Heavy attack timing and aim

Start practising against ordinary enemies in an open area. Tap to compare the normal wand shot, then hold for a charged attack while an enemy approaches. Release before the enemy reaches melee range because the wind-up leaves you exposed. Line two opponents up so the piercing attack can hit both. If a quick target keeps moving out of the line, normal shots may be more reliable. A boss that resists interruption is not necessarily a sign your input failed: some enemy animations cannot be cancelled.

Best combat uses

The strongest use of Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks is against predictable enemies or groups moving through a narrow path. Prepare from a safe distance and release into their approach. If the attack interrupts them, follow with ordinary wand pressure or step back to prepare a slower staff spell. You can also charge while another player is drawing aggro in co-op. When an enemy is already inside your guard, dodging or using a shield is safer than beginning a long attack animation.

Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks: Heavy, aerial and evasion wand moves

Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks are not the same as Aerial Wand Attack or Wand Evasion Attack. The latter are separately unlockable skills in the revamped tree. Aerial attacks let you fire while jumping, while an evasion attack rewards repositioning during combat. The basic heavy attack instead adds piercing and interruption potential. If an aerial move is missing, check your skill points after the automatic 1.0 reset. The wand heavy attack can still be used before those optional nodes are purchased.

Blast and Cast combo

Blast and Cast grants a 50% increase to the base damage of your next staff attack if it follows a wand critical hit within ten seconds. Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks can be part of the initial wand pressure, but the critical strike is what activates the bonus. Watch for the crit, switch to staff and use a strong spell before the window closes. Eternal spell upgrades make this loop easier to maintain because your offensive charges do not run out, although casting still uses mana. Check Eternal spells for the upgrade system.

Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks: Controls troubleshooting

If Enshrouded Wand Heavy Attacks only produce ordinary shots, check that you are actually wielding a wand rather than a staff, then inspect the current control bindings. Try charging outside combat to see the animation clearly. If the strike works but doesn’t stagger a large enemy, test it against a weaker target; resistance and enemy animation rules can affect interruption. Version 1.0 also rebalances elemental resistances, so a different wand element may perform better even when you use the same input.

What to upgrade next

The new 1.0 skill tree supports hybrid wand and staff play, so choose mobility such as Blink and Double Jump before stacking damage bonuses if you’re frequently hit during a charge. Upgraded gear can reach level 55 while characters cap at level 50. The 1.0 patch notes, skill reset, level cap, Cinder’s Cradle and Flame Level 11 guides cover changes, progression and later materials. A heavy attack is a useful tool, not a replacement for dodging or spell selection.
