Cyberpunk 2077 DLSS 4.5 arrived with the October 22 Update 2.5 on PC. CD Projekt RED added support for the second-generation Transformer model, up to 6X Multi Frame Generation and Dynamic Multi Frame Generation. Those features are not identical, and the GPU needed for 6X is different from one that can use ordinary DLSS Super Resolution.
RTX players should check their graphics card and drivers before looking for every option at once. The useful setup is to start with stable real-time performance, then add the upscaling or frame-generation feature your GPU supports.

Cyberpunk 2077 DLSS 4.5: Which GPUs support the features
DLSS Super Resolution, including NVIDIA’s newer transformer model, is available on GeForce RTX cards across multiple generations. The higher 5X and 6X Multi Frame Generation modes and the new Dynamic Multi Frame Generation are GeForce RTX 50-series features. An older RTX card being able to select DLSS upscaling doesn’t mean it gains 6X generation.
NVIDIA requires Game Ready Driver 595.97 WHQL or newer for its full DLSS 4.5 feature set. Update the NVIDIA app as well. RTX 20 and 30 cards can use newer Super Resolution models, but NVIDIA warns that the more demanding models can cost performance on those GPUs. Don’t assume the latest is automatically the fastest. NVIDIA’s official setup guide explains the supported hardware.
Cyberpunk 2077 DLSS 4.5: How to set up DLSS in Cyberpunk
Open Settings, then Graphics, and inspect the resolution-scaling and DLSS sections. On a compatible RTX card, enable a DLSS upscaling quality mode and compare image quality against native rendering. Test a familiar busy street before adding frame generation.
In the NVIDIA app, open Graphics → Cyberpunk 2077 → DLSS Override – Frame Generation Mode. On an RTX 50 card choose Dynamic and Max refresh rate, or Custom for a specific target. Fixed lets you select the multiplier, up to 6X where supported. To change the upscaling model, use DLSS Override – Model Presets → Recommended. You can verify the active model with Alt+Z → Statistics → Statistics View → DLSS.
Cyberpunk 2077 DLSS 4.5: Dynamic versus Fixed frame generation
Dynamic Multi Frame Generation changes its generation multiplier to help match the display’s target refresh rate. Fixed mode uses the multiplier you select, including 6X on supported RTX 50 cards. Neither changes the actual number of player inputs the game receives.
NVIDIA says Dynamic mode conflicts with frame-rate limiters and V-Sync. RTX 40 and 50 cards can use ordinary Frame Generation, while RTX 20 and 30 cards have DLSS upscaling without Frame Generation. Cyberpunk 2077 DLSS 4.5 doesn’t give every RTX generation identical options. If those features are enabled, turn off the conflicting limiters before testing Dynamic. The higher displayed FPS is not proof that latency is lower.

Cyberpunk 2077 DLSS 4.5: Best settings for visual quality
Start with DLSS Quality or another preset that looks clean on your display, then consider Ray Reconstruction or ray tracing only if your system has the headroom. Move through dark and brightly lit scenes to check fine edges, reflections and motion stability.
If the game is already struggling before frame generation, reduce expensive graphics settings first. A 6X multiplier may improve presentation on a high-refresh monitor, but can’t fix an underlying stutter or slow simulation.
Cyberpunk 2077 DLSS 4.5: DLSS 4.5 option missing
Confirm the game is patched, your graphics card is RTX and your driver is current. If you are on an RTX 20, 30 or 40 card, don’t expect the RTX 50-only 6X mode. Check the NVIDIA app override separately from the game’s own Graphics menu.
If you own an RTX 50 but Dynamic Multi Frame Generation is absent, check the NVIDIA app and driver first, then turn off conflicting V-Sync or frame limits. If Frame Generation is greyed out on RTX 40, CDPR’s support advice says to check Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in Windows graphics settings and restart after enabling it. For Cyberpunk 2077 DLSS 4.5, treat the app’s override and the game’s own setting as two separate controls. Avoid downloading unverified DLL replacements to force a feature onto an unsupported GPU.
DLSS versus AMD FSR and console graphics modes
DLSS targets supported NVIDIA PC graphics hardware. The revised FSR options include FSR 2.1 and FSR 4 upscaling plus FSR 3.1 Frame Generation. PS5 and Xbox owners aren’t meant to search for an NVIDIA DLSS toggle in their console settings.
CDPR also improved PS5 Pro graphics and added a console FOV slider in Update 2.5. Those are independent changes. Choose your upscaling and frame-generation setup based on your actual PC hardware rather than borrowing settings from a console guide.
