Cronos Lazarus Abilities and New Weapons: Teleportation, Decoy and Gladius

Cronos Lazarus Abilities introduce a faster style of combat to Bloober Team’s upcoming prequel DLC. The Pathfinder has teleportation for quick movement, a decoy that distracts enemies while briefly making him invisible, and a new weapon called the Gladius. Each offers a different way to survive the Collective’s hunter.

The expansion launches on December 3, 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Here’s what the developer has actually shown about the three mechanics, how they compare with the original game’s weapons and why they matter against the Tracker.

Cronos Lazarus Abilities: What Can the Pathfinder Do?

The Pathfinder is a former agent of the Collective who later becomes the Warden. Bloober Team has built Lazarus around his greater mobility and a more aggressive combat pace than the Traveler’s in Cronos: The New Dawn. His abilities let him create space, distract threats and hit harder.

Cronos Lazarus Abilities have been demonstrated in the July developer diary and August extended gameplay reveal. They’re part of the expansion’s combat design, not a confirmed upgrade patch that gives every base-game character the same powers.

How Does Teleportation Work in Lazarus?

Teleportation lets the Pathfinder instantly reposition within a defined area. Bloober Team describes using it to get clear of enemy groups or outmanoeuvre enemies during a fight. That can turn a cornered position into an opening for retreat or a different attack angle.

Cronos Lazarus Abilities let you reposition in a defined area, not travel across the whole map. Use teleportation to create a gap or reach a better angle when enemies are closing in; that is the movement the developer has actually demonstrated.

How Does the Decoy Ability Work?

The decoy leaves a ghostly copy of the Pathfinder where he was standing. Enemies can be drawn towards that copy while the real Pathfinder becomes briefly invisible. It’s a way to escape attention or improve positioning, especially when enemies are approaching from multiple directions.

The invisibility is temporary and the decoy is a distraction, not a promise that the Tracker permanently abandons the chase. The purpose of Cronos Lazarus Abilities is to give the player decisions under pressure, not remove the horror of being pursued.

What Is the Gladius Weapon?

Gladius is the named new weapon in Lazarus. Bloober Team describes it as faster and deadlier than the Dagger PS-3713 from The New Dawn. It is a more forceful option for the Pathfinder’s aggressive fighting style, particularly when using movement to open up an attack.

Bloober Team’s August gameplay presentation confirms the Gladius is both faster and stronger than the Dagger. No pickup location or upgrade costs were shown, so those will need their own location guide once the DLC launches.

How Do the New Mechanics Compare With The New Dawn?

The original game asks the Traveler to manage limited ammunition and keep Orphans from merging into stronger enemies. Burning bodies stops that process, which makes preparation and selecting a fight important. Lazarus keeps the survival horror foundation but gives the Pathfinder more tools for reacting quickly to danger.

Cronos Lazarus Abilities help make the Tracker pursuit feel different from ordinary encounters. Teleportation changes your position, the decoy changes an enemy’s focus, and the Gladius changes how hard you can strike. None of these three means every enemy should be fought instead of avoided.

When Can You Use the New Weapons and Abilities?

Cronos Lazarus Abilities will be available through the DLC on December 3, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 follows in Q1 2027. The US price is $9.99, and the expansion requires Cronos: The New Dawn.
