Crimson Desert Greymane Camp begins during Chapter 3 at Howling Hill. Finish the Bustling Hill expansion dispatch, recruit additional comrades and work through the Grounds of the Sunrise faction chain to develop the settlement. The Charting the Unknown DLC now connects this progression to A Wider World, shipbuilding, new camp festivals and Honorary Greymanes.
Camp expansion still happens through faction quests and comrade dispatches, not a universal purchase button. Some new DLC features depend on an upgraded camp, while others have separate quests. The important next step is to work through the Greymanes’ Journal and finish assignments that are still in progress.
For quest interactions that appear blocked while playing as Oongka or Damiane, switch to Kliff before retrying the Greymanes faction step. Pearl Abyss lists blocked faction quest progression for those two characters as a known issue.
How to unlock Crimson Desert Greymane Camp
Crimson Desert Greymane Camp begins in Howling Hill’s Homestead storyline. Reunite with Marius, complete First Step to Rebuilding and A Fresh Start, move the marked supplies and raise the Greymane banner. The new camp becomes your base and introduces future management missions. Activate its Abyss Nexus fast-travel point for convenient returns.
The first big expansion comes later in Chapter 3. In Bustling Hill, open the world map, inspect Howling Hill, open Mission List and dispatch Luke and Ronald on Howling Hill Camp Expansion. When its roughly 18-hour in-game timer finishes, return for Greymanes Reunited.

Crimson Desert Greymane Camp upgrades in order
Later Crimson Desert Greymane Camp upgrades are under Journal > Faction Quests > Greymanes > Grounds of the Sunrise. Complete the listed recruitment, resource and construction steps rather than looking for a generic upgrade merchant. Finish each assigned dispatch before expecting the next stage to become available.
| Stage | Key quest progression | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Camp establishment | Chapter 3 Homestead | Home and basic camp |
| First expansion | Bustling Hill | Dispatch-based expansion and additional space |
| Embers of Return | Recruitment, Secure Resources, Luke’s Request, Expanding the Camp | New comrades and capacity |
| Gathered Will | More recruitment and resource missions | Further expansion and facilities |
| Solid Foundation | Advanced Greymanes faction chain | Later construction and roles |
Facility quests can be completed at different points within broader expansion stages. A farm or ranch might still require its own construction dispatch even after the camp has grown. This is why one player’s finished settlement may differ from another’s at the same story chapter.
How to start Expanding the Camp after Luke’s Request
For the next Crimson Desert Greymane Camp upgrade, complete the Grounds of the Sunrise faction missions. Secure Resources requires Basic Logging at Timberham Sawmill and mining at Karin Quarry. Luke’s Request then teaches home decoration with a Flower Basket placed inside a hilltop house.
After that, track Expanding the Camp in the faction Journal. Inspect Howling Hill through the map, select the construction assignment and dispatch eligible comrades. Make sure enough resources are available and wait for the mission to complete. If there is no expansion listed, check the preceding faction quest and any workers already on missions.
What do the farm and ranch produce?
Crimson Desert Greymane Camp can develop a farm for growing ingredients and a ranch for livestock. The Apple Trees quest helps establish the farm; related recruit and tutorial tasks lead to ranch construction. These projects require eligible builders and in-game time, so planting crops early can help while you work on other camp upgrades.
Farm products are useful for cooking and trade, while livestock provide animal resources. Neither is a confirmed requirement for the DLC’s first ocean story mission. Focus on finishing the Greymanes faction missions that unlock the facility you want rather than assuming every structure builds automatically.

How to recruit more workers and unlock workshops
Additional Crimson Desert Greymane Camp quests let you recover companions with specialist skills. Some are Builders, Loggers, Miners or Farmers; others work with Engineering, Smithing and Ranching. Their skills determine which missions are possible and can improve dispatch results.
Later facilities include a Wagon Workshop for trade transport and an Emberwind Workshop for Cloudcarts. These require their own recruits, construction and resources. If a building is locked, read the construction card to see the required worker skills, then complete the relevant rumour or faction recruitment mission.
Why won’t Greymane Camp upgrade?
If Crimson Desert Greymane Camp doesn’t expand, first check whether Bustling Hill is fully complete. Next open Grounds of the Sunrise and finish the preceding faction quests. Finally inspect Howling Hill’s Mission List and make sure the required comrades are available and not already dispatched elsewhere.
Do not confuse your camp level with the separate DLC shipbuilding questline. Pearl Abyss confirms that shipbuilding requires an established camp plus the related new quests. Housing requires Luke’s Request, while visiting companions depends on upgrades but has its own progression requirements.
Crimson Desert Greymane Camp festivals and DLC unlocks
Charting the Unknown also adds festival missions at camp. Once you’ve progressed the festival quest, NPCs who already trust you enough can visit for a limited time. Talking to them during the event increases Trust more quickly, and some visitors can be recruited as Honorary Greymanes. These honorary comrades can take dispatch jobs, although certain normal comrade features are unavailable to them.
For Crimson Desert Greymane Camp, festivals are a different activity from the marriage system. They help you meet visitors and recruit extra help, while romance requires Flirt and an additional Trust level. Our marriage guide covers the romance rules if that’s the interaction you’re looking for.
Before October 29, progress Crimson Desert Greymane Camp through the playable main and faction quests, complete Luke’s Request, and familiarise yourself with dispatches. The new ships can later be acquired through port construction assignments or Fleet Office purchases. For money and traversal preparation, see Silver Pouches and Water Stride.
The map discoveries fix covers unrelated map-marker problems; The Mysterious Pot quest fix covers a later main-story block.
