Crimson Desert Dispatch Missions: How to Assign Comrades and Earn Rewards

Crimson Desert Charting the Unknown official artwork

Crimson Desert dispatch missions send Greymane comrades to collect resources, construct facilities and perform tasks around Pywel while you carry on playing. After your first Howling Hill camp expansion, speak to Ross or inspect a worksite on the world map, open the Missions tab, choose an assignment and select eligible comrades.

If the menu isn’t appearing, it’s usually because the camp is still too early in the story, you’re inspecting the wrong map icon or the required worker is unavailable. Here’s how to unlock the system, assign companions and make their jobs more productive.

For quest interactions that appear blocked while playing as Oongka or Damiane, switch to Kliff before retrying the Greymanes faction step. Pearl Abyss lists blocked faction quest progression for those two characters as a known issue.

How to unlock Crimson Desert dispatch missions

Crimson Desert dispatch missions are introduced through Chapter 3’s Pioneering storyline. Finish Bustling Hill by assigning Luke and Ronald to the first Howling Hill Camp Expansion, then continue the Greymanes faction quests to recruit more workers and open new worksites.

Ross becomes your dispatch coordinator at camp after its initial expansion. He provides access to the wider mission list, but you can also inspect discovered worksites individually through the world map. The availability of a mission depends on local progression and the types of comrades you’ve recruited.

How to send comrades using the world map

For Crimson Desert dispatch missions outside camp, follow the management prompts rather than the normal Journal:

  1. Open the world map and select its All filter.
  2. Highlight a discovered camp, sawmill, quarry or other worksite.
  3. Choose Inspect (usually Triangle on PS5 or Y on Xbox).
  4. Move to Missions and select the assignment.
  5. Check its resource cost, minimum workforce, duration and required skills.
  6. Choose available comrades and confirm the dispatch.

For example, Timberham Sawmill has a Basic Logging job and Karin Quarry has a mining assignment used by the Greymanes Secure Resources quest. Inspecting the specific worksite can reveal a job that isn’t obvious from the general camp overview.

Crimson Desert dispatch missions: types and worker skills

Different Crimson Desert dispatch missions benefit from different comrade specialisations. The task’s mission card shows the requirements and projected returns.

MissionTypical resultUseful comrade skill
LoggingTimberLogger
MiningStone and mineral resourcesMiner
FarmingIngredients or trade goodsFarmer/Cultivator
ConstructionCamp upgradesBuilder
EscortTravel and defensive tasksEscort
ProductionCrafted goodsEngineer or relevant specialist

Some construction and production tasks can’t start without a companion with the matching skill. If the job looks available but no worker qualifies, go back to Greymanes faction recruitment and complete rumour missions that bring additional people into camp.

How to increase dispatch rewards

To get more from Crimson Desert dispatch missions, look at the projected yield while selecting workers. The base-game system rewards matching skills and can improve output when more comrades than the minimum are assigned. Certain regional church donations also raise the Blessing level, which specialist guides document as providing a 2% dispatch reward improvement per level.

There’s no need to send every comrade on the same job. Prioritise enough builders for an important expansion, then use skilled Loggers or Miners on repeated gathering missions. Watch the displayed yield before confirming an assignment so you can see whether a proposed worker change helps.

Why are Crimson Desert dispatch missions greyed out?

If Crimson Desert dispatch missions are unavailable, work through the checks in order. Complete the early camp expansion, inspect the named worksite rather than empty map terrain, confirm any regional liberation requirement, and make sure you’ve recruited the required skilled comrades.

An already assigned worker cannot be used on another active mission. Check whether the job also consumes camp provisions or resources you don’t have. If Karin Quarry’s mining task is locked, inspect the House Roberts faction objectives associated with liberating the quarry before assuming the whole dispatch menu is broken.

When do missions finish, and how do you collect results?

After you start one of the Crimson Desert dispatch missions, its timer runs as in-game time passes. You can keep exploring or rest. Once the timer reaches completion, open the appropriate mission panel to see the results and any available collection action. Construction advances the associated camp objective, while resource jobs may be repeated.

Check the active faction Journal after a dispatch finishes. If the quest counter has registered your completed logging or mining, there is no need to repeat the same job merely because it appears in the list again.

Will dispatches build ships in Charting the Unknown?

Yes. Pearl Abyss confirms Crimson Desert dispatch missions will also be used at ports to construct ships in the October 29 DLC. This requires an established Greymane Camp and completion of the new shipbuilding questline. Ships can alternatively be purchased from Fleet Office managers.

Exact port assignment lengths, worker requirements and ship material lists have not been published, so preparing camp progression and learning the interface is more valuable than farming an invented recipe.
