The Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero is a brand-new Agent role arriving with Version 3.2. Designed around a balance between offense and defense, Armorer introduces several new combat mechanics including Gash, Maim, multi-CRIT and Counter Assist.

Claret will become the first playable Armorer Agent when Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.2 launches on September 9, 2026. While her individual kit provides the first example of how the new Specialty works, Armorer is being introduced as a permanent new Agent category that can be used for future characters.

What Is the Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero?

The Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero combines defensive capabilities with the ability to deal significant damage.

Rather than functioning purely as a defensive support role, Armorer Agents are designed to actively participate in combat and introduce new ways of interacting with enemies.

The major new mechanics associated with the Specialty are:

MechanicWhat It Does
MaimDeals additional damage after certain conditions are met
Multi-CRITAllows CRIT Rate beyond 100% to provide additional benefits
Counter AssistContests certain enemy Control Skills and pushes enemies back
GashA mechanic used by Claret to set enemies up for Maim

Claret is currently the only confirmed character using the Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero, so some of these mechanics are closely connected to her individual kit.

Future Armorer Agents may use the Specialty differently.

How Does Maim Work in Zenless Zone Zero?

Maim is one of the major new mechanics arriving alongside the Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero.

Claret builds Gash on enemies by attacking them. Once enough Gash has accumulated, the Gash status is applied to the target.

Using specific attacks against an enemy affected by Gash can then trigger Maim.

Maim deals additional damage and also grants a Laceration DMG increase, giving Claret another source of offensive power despite Armorer’s defensive elements.

This creates a combat loop where Claret repeatedly attacks enemies to build Gash before using particular skills to activate Maim and deal additional damage.

What Is Multi-CRIT in Zenless Zone Zero?

Multi-CRIT is another mechanic introduced through the first Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero Agent.

Normally, reaching more than 100% CRIT Rate would provide little benefit because an attack is already guaranteed to critically hit.

Claret changes that.

When her CRIT Rate exceeds 100%, the excess amount can contribute towards multi-CRIT. This allows additional CRIT Rate to continue improving her damage even after reaching the usual 100% threshold.

Multi-CRIT uses Laceration DMG instead of normal CRIT DMG when calculating its effect.

Claret’s initial CRIT DMG can also be converted into initial CRIT Rate at a set ratio, making DEF, CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG particularly important when building her.

It is worth noting that these specific stat interactions are part of Claret’s kit. HoYoverse has not confirmed that every future character using the Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero will use the same DEF scaling or multi-CRIT setup.

What Is Counter Assist?

The Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero also introduces the ability to trigger Counter Assist.

Counter Assist allows an Armorer Agent to contest certain enemy Control Skills and push the enemy back.

This gives the Specialty a more active form of defensive utility. Instead of simply absorbing damage or providing protection, an Armorer can directly respond to particular enemy actions.

The mechanic fits the overall design of the Specialty, which is intended to combine defensive capabilities with offensive pressure.

Is Claret the First Armorer Agent?

Yes. Claret is the first character confirmed to use the Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero.

She is an S-Rank Electric Agent and the head of Flint Workshop. Claret debuts during the first half of Version 3.2, alongside a rerun for Nangong Yu.

Her skills use DEF as their base damage multiplier, while her kit revolves around Gash, Maim and multi-CRIT.

Claret’s introduction will also be accompanied by additional Armorer content. Version 3.2 adds Armorer Specialty General Gears and a dedicated Armorer training stage to the VR Training Room, allowing players to learn how the new role functions.

When Is the Armorer Specialty Coming to Zenless Zone Zero?

The Armorer Specialty in Zenless Zone Zero becomes available with the release of Version 3.2 on September 9, 2026.

Claret will be available during the first half of the update as the first playable Armorer Agent.

The addition of an entirely new Specialty means Armorer is likely to become increasingly important as more characters using the role are introduced. For Version 3.2, however, Claret will be the character demonstrating exactly what the new mix of offense, defense, Maim and multi-CRIT can do.
