The ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus included with eligible ACE COMBAT 8 preorders is playable on Steam, but its delivery has caused confusion. On PC, Bandai Namco originally made the older game accessible through ACE COMBAT 8 rather than supplying a separately launchable Steam application. That is how the publisher described the distribution on 30 September 2026.
On 2 October, Bandai Namco responded to complaints by saying it was exploring a standalone Steam release. It has not confirmed that the change will happen or announced a date. If you are checking your Steam library and cannot see ZERO listed as its own game, the absence of a separate listing does not, by itself, mean the preorder reward is missing.
How the ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus works on Steam

Steam’s arrangement for the ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus connects it to ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE. Bandai Namco says licensing and platform restrictions prevented it from releasing ACE COMBAT ZERO as a standalone Steam application at launch. The game is a complete earlier Ace Combat title, not an extra mission inside the Wings of Theve campaign; the distribution method is what links it to the newer game.
To find the ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus, make sure you are signed into the Steam account that made the eligible preorder and that ACE COMBAT 8 is installed and up to date. Start by checking the bonus access available through ACE COMBAT 8, rather than assuming Steam must offer another independent installation. Bandai Namco’s announcements do not provide a universal step-by-step menu path, so we will not invent one.
Will ACE COMBAT ZERO become a standalone Steam game?
A standalone app for the ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus is possible, but it is not confirmed. In its 2 October announcement, the developer said it was discussing a different distribution method with platform partners and reviewing whether a standalone application could be delivered. The team also said implementation and timing were under review. That statement is an investigation into a change, not a promised patch or an announced release.
Do not buy a second copy or follow instructions telling you to download a standalone ZERO app on Steam solely because the preorder bonus was advertised as a full classic game. Check for a new publisher announcement first. At present, the 30 September explanation and 2 October update are the most specific official notices about the Steam delivery method.
Who qualified for the ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus?
Bandai Namco advertised ACE COMBAT ZERO: THE BELKAN WAR and a playable F-14A aircraft as preorder bonuses for both the Standard and Deluxe editions of ACE COMBAT 8. You did not have to buy Deluxe simply to qualify for ZERO. Deluxe’s early access, Premium Ace Pass Plus voucher and cosmetic set are different items, and the early-access window ended when the main game released on 2 October 2026.
The ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus preorder campaign has now ended. For a purchase made after launch, check the edition and store listing you actually bought instead of assuming the bonus remains included. Likewise, if you ordered a physical copy, your retailer’s product page or included code is the best way to confirm the entitlement attached to that particular edition.
What if the ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus is missing?

If the ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus is missing, first check your purchase history and receipt to confirm the preorder was made before release and that your edition included the promotion. On Steam, also verify that you are launching the game with the purchasing account and check the installed game’s downloadable-content details for an entitlement. A separate ZERO entry is not the correct test for PC while the game is distributed through ACE COMBAT 8.
If your purchase qualifies for the ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus but you still cannot access it, contact Steam Support or Bandai Namco Support with the order details. Explain that your issue is the ACE COMBAT ZERO preorder entitlement, rather than simply reporting that no standalone app appears. This makes it easier to distinguish an entitlement failure from the delivery method Bandai Namco already acknowledged.
Does the same arrangement apply to PlayStation and Xbox?
The publisher’s September and October notices about the ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus specifically discuss Steam. They should not be treated as proof that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S deliver the reward in the same way. On consoles, use your platform’s game-library and add-on or purchase-entitlement screens, then consult the platform’s support service if the game or license remains unavailable.
For more ACE COMBAT ZERO bonus details and the full breakdown of both preorder items, see our ACE COMBAT 8 preorder bonuses guide. If you are checking the F-14A specifically, its availability is separate from any future change to ZERO’s Steam distribution.
